Forget The Battle of the Sexes

I ran across the article today, “To be happy, we must admit women and men aren’t ‘equal’“. It made a lot of great points about gender roles, and how the battle of the sexes has created confusion in our society. Her point in the article at last was, “The battle of the sexes is over. And guess what? No one won. Why not try something else on for size? Like this: men and women are equal, but different. They’ve each been blessed with amazing and unique qualities that they bring to the table. Isn’t it time we stopped fussing about who … Continue reading

Gospel Questions: Why Don’t Mormons Use Crosses?

When you enter an LDS church, you won’t see any crosses. They do not adorn our temples, we do not wear them around our necks or decorate our homes with them. Why not? Isn’t the cross the universal symbol of a Christian faith? Doesn’t this mean that Mormons aren’t Christians? Mormons are most definitely Christians, but we have a specific reason for not using the cross. We are so deeply, eternally grateful to Jesus Christ for His atoning sacrifice and subsequent crucifixion. We profoundly feel the impact of His saving grace in our lives and we contemplate the pain He … Continue reading

Gospel Questions: Are Mormons Christians?

Of all the questions that are posed to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this one is the most frequently asked. Somewhere along the way a rumor was started that we worship Joseph Smith as our God, and that we do not worship Jesus Christ. I would like to start off the Gospel Questions series by answering this concern. We worship, love and adore the Lord Jesus Christ with all our hearts. We know He is our Redeemer, our Savior, the Son of God. He is central to every meeting, every ordinance, and every activity that … Continue reading

2nd Nephi — Stopping the Bullet

Nothing, but nothing beats Mormon humor. Did you know I Googled “LDS Humor” and came across a number of websites. So I started cruising through all the jokes, most brought a smile to my face but this one made me outright laugh. “During the Vietnam War, a group of soldiers were ambushed. Fire was exchanged and during it all, a young LDS soldier was hit in the chest. The others had no choice but to retreat, leaving their friend’s body in the tall grass. Later that night, back at the camp, they saw a figure moving towards them. One of … Continue reading
