Tim Russert’s Son Carries on Dad’s Legacy

If you watched even a single minute of Tim Russert’s emotional public memorial, which was broadcast live on MSNBC last month, then the announcement NBC brass just made regarding the late “Meet the Press” host’s son might not surprise you. NBC News is giving 22-year-old Luke Russert the chance to carry on his dad’s legacy—-on air. Earlier today NBC News President Steve Capus revealed that Luke will help cover the Democratic and Republican conventions for the peacock network. According to Capus, Luke’s official role will be that of convention correspondent focusing on “youth issues.” The job will reportedly be Luke’s … Continue reading

Did New Baby Cost CNN Anchor New Show?

The media had a field day when Campbell Brown left NBC News for CNN after more than 10 years at the peacock network. The former Weekend Today co-anchor spent years covering the White House for NBC and in 2006 she was named as a highly viable contender in the hunt to replace Katie Couric on the Today show. When NBC execs announced Meredith Vieira would fill Couric’s vacancy, Brown was livid. A year later Brown told a live Today show audience she was pregnant and a few months later she jumped ship to CNN where she was promised her own … Continue reading

Look Who’s Hosting “Saturday Night Live”

I’ll give you a few hints: He’s on TV Monday-Friday and sounds as though he is reading rather than speaking (probably because he is). He’s clean cut, intelligent and recently admitted the most nervous he has ever been was when he was standing on the 50-yard line at Lambeau Field during halftime at a recent Green Bay Packers’ game in front of 70,000 plus screaming fans. Who is he? If you guessed Brian Williams give yourself a pat on the back. The anchor of “NBC Nightly News” better get over his fear of performing live in front of large crowds … Continue reading

Celebrity Updates: Maria and Dave

No matter what happens with her husband’s political career don’t expect Maria Shriver to return to TV news. Mrs. Arnold Schwarzenegger says she has Anna Nicole Smith to thank for that decision. Shriver made the announcement about her career earlier this week during the annual California Governor and First Lady’s Conference on Women. You’ll recall Shriver took an extended leave from her job at NBC News when her husband ran for California governor in 2003. After he was elected, Shriver made two appearances as an anchor for “Dateline NBC.” A few months later she told her bosses that she could … Continue reading

Celebrity Update: Good News/Bad News

Let’s begin with the bad news. (I prefer to end blogs on a happy note.) In a previous blog I detailed the tragic health crisis that former televangelist Tammy Faye Messner is dealing with. Unfortunately, things have gone from bad to worse for Messner. According to her website, doctors have stopped treating her cancer and she now weighs in at a mere 65 pounds. Messner says she looks like a “scarecrow” and needs a “miracle” to survive. In what some are calling a farewell letter, Messner posted a thank you to her “faithful friends” who have supported her through three … Continue reading
