If you have a boy who is eleven years old, it is time to begin thinking about him receiving the Priesthood. In November, each ward should hold a Priesthood Preview for all the boys who are eleven years old. This is a meeting, which is directed by the bishop. The Primary presidency may be asked to speak during this meeting as well. The meeting will explain the responsibilities that the boys take on as they move up into the Aaronic priesthood. It is important to teach to the young men of the church, the importance of accepting responsibility, as they grow older. This should include serving a mission, obtaining a higher education, and providing for a family. The role of a Priesthood holder in the home is that of leader and provider. He shares a story of deacons who were not taking their priesthood duties seriously. Their advisor informed them that they would not be needed to pass the Sacrament the next Sunday. Young Men: A Good Example

My little brother blessed the sacrament for the first time on Mother’s Day. This was a wonderful present for my mother. It was also a special event because my brother has disabilities. He may never be able to live on his own, and he barely learned to read a few years ago. This experience has been a very spiritual one for the whole family, as well as my family’s ward. Helping Your Son Honor His Priesthood

Once young men receive the Aaronic Priesthood at the age of twelve, they take on added responsibilities. It is important to support your young man so that he can fulfill the responsibilities of the office that he holds.
