Joan Rivers Roasts and Ryan O’Neal Regrets

Roasts are supposed to be harsh words from good friends that are meant in good humor and no one should know that any better than Joan Rivers. Joan found herself as the roastee at the latest installment of the Comedy Central Roast. The show will air on August 9th at 10:00 p.m. on Comedy Central and the emcee is none other than D-List celebrity Kathy Griffin. Joan took it all in good stride, promising that the show would be great. She said, “I was in shock at what they said” and added, “They call me evil, mean, and [a] plastic … Continue reading

Farrah Fawcett Dies at 62

Much like Ed McMahon’s recent death, everyone had to be expecting to hear the news of Farrah Fawcett’s death and today, she became a true angel at the age of 62. The actress had been battling anal cancer. The Texas born beauty started doing television commercials in the late ‘60s/early ‘70s after a publicist saw her photo in the University of Texas at Austin “Ten Most Beautiful Coeds” photo shoot. She appeared in commercials for Noxema, Ultra Brite, Wella Balsam, and Mercury Cougar. She started landing small spots on television shows such as “I Dream of Jeanie” and “Owen Marshall: … Continue reading

Redmond O’Neal Gets Rehab

Redmond O’Neal, the son of actors Ryan O’Neal and Farrah Fawcett, is getting another chance at getting clean. The 24 year old was arrested on April 5th for drug possession. He took a friend to visit another friend in jail and when the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officers did a routine check, they found Redmond in possession of heroin. Redmond learned this week that he will go to an intense rehab program. The program will include frequent drug testing and court appearances. If Redmond can stay clean this time, he will no longer be on probation and have his … Continue reading

The Celebrity Woes of the Week

This week has not been a good one for some celebrities. While some have had a good, freeing week (with both Clay Aiken and Lindsay Lohan admitted their true sexuality), others have suffered emotional and physical setbacks. Poor Jeffrey Ross suffered a torn cornea during practice on “Dancing with the Stars” and was the first celebrity eliminated. That’s okay, the Friar’s Club needs him much more as a roast master general than America needs him as a dancer. Sharon Stone lost a custody battle with her ex this week. Her oldest son, Roan, has been living with his father, newspaper … Continue reading

Ryan and Redmond O’Neal Arrested on Suspected Drug Charges

Not long ago, I blogged about the recent drug related arrest of actress Mackenzie Phillips. Like Robert Downey, Jr., she was raised in what I consider to be an abusive household where drugs were frequently used by at least one of their parents. You probably know that Mackenzie and Robert have had lifelong struggles with drug addiction (although I am glad to report that Robert has been clean for several years). I know some will say that the addiction is biological, but I think environment has a lot to do with it as well. That being said let me move … Continue reading

Red Raspberry Leaf

I was complaining to a friend last night about my monthly cramps. She suggested raspberry leaf tea, explaining that it helped ease her PMS symptoms. So I thought I’d do a little research and learn more about this herbal remedy. Red raspberry (known to the science types as rubus idaeus) is most often used medicinally as a tea. Both the leaves and the fruit can be used in making a tea; just pour a cup of boiling water over a quarter cup of fresh plant material or two teaspoons of dried plant material. Let it steep for five minutes, then … Continue reading

Farrah Vs. Cancer—Round Two

There are two things about hearing that Farrah Fawcett’s cancer had returned that really set me off and both involve the press (more accurately, the tabloid press). Before I proceed with my rant, for those of you who don’t normally follow celebrities’ health concerns, former “Charlie’s Angels” star Farrah Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in September 2006. After undergoing both chemotherapy and surgery she was declared cancer-free three months ago. But, sadly, just a few days ago she learned that the cancer had returned. According to Fawcett’s close friend, the actress got the news after a routine three-month checkup … Continue reading

Celebrities in Trouble: Ryan O’Neal Arrested

Actor Ryan O’Neal was arrested last weekend at his home in Malibu. He was booked on charges that he assaulted his 42-year-old son Griffin with a deadly weapon. The Sheriff’s deputies arrived at his home Saturday night at 12:30 am. They said Ryan had fired at least one shot from a gun during the fight. Ryan has said he fired in self-defense. He was booked then released at 5:30 a.m. after posting he posted a $50,000 bail. It is sad that all this news comes just a few days after it was announced that long time love Farrah Fawcett was … Continue reading

Farrah’s Battle With Cancer

I first reported that actress and 70’s icon Farrah Fawcett is battling cancer in my Celebrity News Week in Review for October 2, 2006 blog, but I figured this deserved more than just a note in a review blog. Farrah, once known for playing a beautiful “angel” on television, will need her own angels to look over her after being diagnosed with intestinal cancer. Fifty nine year old Farrah has had a tumor removed, but will still undergo radiation and chemotherapy treatment. Farrah is not the only star of 70’s show “Charlie’s Angels” to fight cancer. Jaclyn Smith and Kate … Continue reading

Raspberry Lemonade Biscotti

If you have ever had a piece of biscotti, you know how wonderful it is. But, there is no need for you to pay outrageous prices at your local coffee store for biscotti when you can make your very own at home! You can even store these in an airtight container for up to a month. For this recipe, you will need fresh raspberries, white sugar, butter, eggs, all purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and grated lemon zest. In a small saucepan, pour 3/4 cup of fresh raspberries and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Turn the heat on medium and bring … Continue reading
