Ringo Starr to Fans: Leave Me Alone!

Attention Ringo Starr fans: the former Beatles drummer wants you to bug off. That means stop writing to him, stop asking him for autographs, and for Heavens sake, quit requesting that he send you a signed photo. I’m not kidding. After nearly 50 years basking in the media spotlight and being worshipped by fans around the world the musician says he wants his life back. His fan-free life back. This fan fatigue is apparently what led the 68-year-old to post a very serious video message on his website laying down the law for fans. According to the front man of … Continue reading

Exciting Upcoming Disney Films

I’ve missed talking about Disney movies. A lot has gone on in the parks lately so I’ve focused on them, but it felt so good earlier this week to ditch all of that and speculate on “Maleficent.” After all, the movies are the true reason why we’re Disney fans, right? I’m waiting until this weekend to see “Brave,” so I can go with my two best friends, but there’s still plenty of other Disney movie news to talk about in the interim. June’s seen the release of two trailers for forthcoming Disney movies, so let’s get watching. The first is … Continue reading

Clarence Clemons Dead at 69

Clarence Clemons, the charismatic saxophonist for Bruce Springteen’s E Street Band, died last Saturday at the age of 69. He died due to complications from a stroke he suffered last week. Clemons, also known as The Big Man, began playing the alto sax when he was just nine years old. It was a Christmas present from his father. Clemons switched to the baritone sax in high school where he played in a jazz band. King Curtis proved to have a major influence on the young sax player, as he switched again to the tenor sax. Clemons because playing studio sessions … Continue reading

Star-Studded Celebrity Benefits for Haiti

If there is one thing celebrities love to turn out for it is benefit events. Last Monday on his nightly show, Larry King hosted a two-hour special that raised almost $9 million for Haiti relief. On the show helping man the phones were such celebs as Paula Abdul, Jennifer Lopez, Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr, Ben Stiller, Will.I.Am, P. Diddy, Ashley Judd, Snoop Dog, Ryan Seacrest, Scarlette Johansson, John Mayer, Nicole Richie, and Joel Madden. There was also an auction of celebrity items. Believe it or not, Jared Leto paid $1,000 for a pair of Larry King’s famous suspenders. If that … Continue reading

With the deaths or John Lennon and George Harrison, the possibility of a true Beatles reunion is impossible. So, what is the next best thing? The two former Beatles appeared on stage together for the first time in six years to raise money for the David Lynch Foundation’s Change Begins Within Benefit concert. The David Lynch Foundation offers funding for students to learn transcendental meditation. The before and after programs of the foundation … Continue reading

What NOT to do with Your Newborn Twins

And the 2008 Worst Mother Award goes to… Sonia Ringoir. Okay, maybe not. However, if they handed out an actual award for poor parental behavior the 31-year-old Belgium mother would certainly be in contention for title. If you haven’t already heard, Ringoir stands accused of selling her newborn twin boys to pay for liposuction surgery. According to reports, Ringoir, a restaurant worker from the Belgian tourist haven of Ghent, was arrested and charged last week after her estranged husband ratted her out. And get this—when police questioned Ringoir’s current boyfriend, he says the mom sold her babies because her estranged … Continue reading

Praying Over Tasks For The Day

In a study my darling husband and I are working through together, called Proverbs and Parables – 16 studies on God’s wisdom for living by Dee Brestin, it suggested a special daily assignment. This was to ‘each morning prayerfully commit to the Lord your work for the day and let Him direct your thoughts. As he brings various activities to mind, list them on paper. Then let Him show you what you should do first, second etc.’ This is an application of Proverbs 16:3 which says ‘Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established.’ This suggestion … Continue reading
