Pop Culture Potpourri: Prince Harry Makes Amends and Janet Jackson Calls Michael “Freaky”

It might just be the shortest break up in royal history. Last month Prince Harry and his blonde bombshell of a girlfriend Chelsy Davy called it quits after three years together. (Technically he got dumped.) But, according to the British newspaper News of the World, the handsome couple appear to have reconciled. Paparazzi snapped the Zimbabwean beauty being dropped off near Prince Harry’s home Saturday night. Prince Harry Gets Dumped

Who dumps a prince anyway? Prince Harry may finally be getting a taste of what it’s like to have girl troubles. (Must run in the family.) British newspapers are reporting that Harry and his girlfriend of more than three years, Chelsy Davy have broken up. Can The Royals Finally Stop Running?

The British press is reporting that Prince William recently whisked girlfriend Kate Middleton to the scene of some of their first dates–the Highlands of Scotland. William and Kate are reportedly staying at Queen Elizabeth’s Balmoral estate where they are said to be engaging in their favorite field sports. It’s not earth-shattering news, but there are two points that intrigued me about the story. Camilla Banned From Princess Diana Memorial Service

That’s what some loyal Princess Diana fans would like people to think, but according to British newspapers, Prince Charles’s wife Camilla voluntarily decided to sit out Friday’s memorial service for the late Princess of Wales. Palace officials say Diana’s sons, Prince William and Prince Harry – who will lead the service, marking the 10-year anniversary of her death – extended an invitation to Camilla, and she had initially accepted. Perhaps, I should have been a professional royal-watcher… A couple of weeks ago when the news broke that Prince William and his girlfriend of nearly five years, Kate Middleton “split” then dramatically reunited last month, my royal feelers went up. Nearly a decade after her horrific death Princess Diana is still making headlines. The latest coverage includes pleas from Diana’s sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. The princes are going public with their wishes that a British television station not broadcast a series of photos taken immediately after the car crash that killed their mother in Paris on August 31, 1997. THE GREEN PRINCE Prince Charles has made headlines for being “green,” but the environmentally friendly future king of England may have a hard time topping this next move. Less than 24 hours ago Madame Tussauds unveiled a new wax figure of Prince Charles to reflect his efforts to combat climate change. Workers at the museum designed a one-of-a-kind “green” version of the Prince of Wales by recycling wax from a 1989 figure of the royal and updated it with 82 pounds of organic beeswax, 55 pounds of clay and fiberglass. Prince Harry—No Iraq

Was it all much ado about nothing? Or was it a legitimate case of risky business? Whatever the real reason is (or if in fact the report is true) Britain’s Prince Harry will not be going with his unit to Iraq. According to Britain’s top general, sending Harry was simply too dangerous. Gen. So much for that December royal wedding some were predicting… British tabloids took a hit today after several media outlets confirmed that Prince William and his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton decided to call it quits. According to The Sun newspaper, the couple reached an “amicable agreement” to separate, though a spokesman at the prince’s office refused to comment on the break up.
