“Dancing with the Stars” Dropouts

They’re dropping like flies and the show hasn’t even started. ABC just announced that singer Jewel and Access Hollywood host Nancy O’Dell are withdrawing from Dancing with the Stars due to knee injuries. Execs at the alphabet network say both women suffered “significant injuries” during rehearsals in recent weeks. Jewel was diagnosed with a fractured tibia in both legs while O’Dell has a torn meniscus that will require surgery. “Dancing with the Stars” Adds a New Twist

It’s superstar husband versus celebrity wife during this season’s Dancing with the Stars. And here’s another first: Instead of celeb hoofers hooking up with their pro partners during the season (ala Derek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth, Mark Ballas and Sabrina Bryan, etc.), this season producers allowed a real life couple to heat up the ballroom. Marie’s Thud Heard Round the World

Ouch! That’s gotta hurt. No. I’m not referring to the painful drop “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Marie Osmond took after her samba routine. I’m referring to the scores the judges flashed when the singer came to. Osmond got 21 out of 30 possible points for her show-stopping samba. Actually, it was what occurred after her samba that stopped the show. Did you watch “Dancing with the Stars” last night? While the contestants and the audience were up in arms about the brouhaha regarding illegal lifts, viewers at home were fired up about another portion of the program. Namely co-host Samantha Harris. Samantha Harris should have known better. The E! News correspondent and Dancing with the Stars co-host stated publicly (on numerous occasions) that she planned to appear on the popular ABC dance contest until mid-October, that’s when Harris was due to give birth to her first child. Hollywood’s Newest Moms

She’s been hosting TV’s “Access Hollywood” for years, but now Nancy O’Dell has a new gig she says knows little about—-being a new mom. According to the entertainment show’s website, O’Dell and her husband Keith Zubchevich welcomed a baby girl, Ashby Grace earlier today at a Los Angeles hospital. The couple’s bundle of joy weighed in at 7 lbs., 9 oz. and measured 22 inches long. Okay, I admit it. I was one of the millions of “Dancing with the Stars” viewers who noticed a big difference in host Samantha Harris’ recent appearance. Okay, okay… two big differences.
