Sandra Bullock Wins Humanitarian Award

Last Wednesday, the People’s Choice Awards was held at the Nokia Theater.  These awards are pretty cool because the celebrity honors are chosen by the people rather than industry professionals like the other award shows. The Hunger Games won five awards, singer Katy Perry won three, and Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston won for best comedic actors. One special award went to Sandra Bullock, not for acting, but for her humanitarian efforts. Bullock was recognized for her many philanthropic efforts.  She has been a great supporter of the American Red Cross, having given the organization millions over the years after … Continue reading

“Big Fat Greek Wedding” Star Advocates for Foster Adoption”

I’ve written about Angelina Jolie, Katherine Heigl and Madonna adopting internationally, and about Sheryl Crow adopting an infant and Sandra Bullock’s adoption of an African-American infant from New Orleans. (Breaking news on Bullock: gossip sites like “Anything Hollywood”and “igossip” are saying Bullock wants to adopt a sibling for Louis, and wants to start the process now and hope that it won’t take as long as Louis’ adoption. Bullock and her then-husband Jesse James applied to adopt nearly four years ago. I haven’t heard any mainstream verification of this, though. ) It seems rarer to hear about celebrities adopting from foster … Continue reading

Jesse James Says He was Abused as a Child

Things just seem to be going from bad to worse for Jesse James. First, we learned that he cheated on Sandra Bullock, “America’s Sweetheart,” just days after she won her first Oscar. Then, the news came out that there were pictures circulating the Internet of James in Nazi apparel. As mistresses seemed to appear out of the woodwork, we find out that not only did James cheat on Sandra, but they had planned to adopted a baby no one knew about. Seriously, could it get any worse? Maybe. James admitted on “Nightline” last night that he had a reason for … Continue reading

Sandra Bullock Adopts, Files for Divorce

It has been the best of times and the worst of times for Sandra Bullock this year. She not only got her first Academy Award nomination, but won Best Actress. She seemed on top of the world with her biker husband Jesse James by her side. But just days after her win, a cheating scandal exploded into the media and since then, multiple James mistresses have spoken out. Bullock has been in hiding for the most part, although friends like George Lopez have visited her. Now we found out that maybe she had something else on her mind other than … Continue reading

Update on Sandra Bullock and Jesse James

For the first time since rumors of her husband’s infidelities leaked, Academy Award winning actress Sandra Bullock has made a public appearance – well, sort of public. Bullock was seen at the home of Gabriel Brener, the head of a private investment firm. Brener is reportedly a close friend who was among the guests at Bullock’s 2005 wedding to Jesse James. While Bullock hasn’t been out much, she has had visitors. Comedian George Lopez told PEOPLE that he visited Bullock for a few minutes the day after the Kids’ Choice Awards. “She’s great. We love her. We all love her,” … Continue reading

Trouble for Sandra Bullock and Jesse James

They seemed like the perfect couple less than a week ago. Sandra Bullock won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in The Blind Side. Her husband, Jesse James, who looks more at home in a garage than on a red carpet, happily joined her and beamed with pride when she won. He told PEOPLE, “She’s beautiful. She’s amazing. She takes my breath away. Sometimes I look at her and I do, I just lose my breath.” Now cut from the happy couple at the Academy Awards to the news today of rumors of a split due to infidelity. PEOPLE … Continue reading

Award Season is in Full Bloom

I love award season! I start getting excited when the Golden Globes are announced then the season culminates with a 12-13 hour Oscar day at my house. The Golden Globes were last weekend and they, along with the Screen Actors Guild Awards, which was held last night, begin the road to Oscar for many actors. So far, award season is going as many do. There are some obvious favorites, even though the Academy Awards nominees won’t be announced until February 2nd. Let’s look at some of the big awards. Avatar won the Best Motion Picture-Drama Golden Globe, but does that … Continue reading

On the Blind Side

Some people say the recently released movie “The Blind Side” has inspired them and will inspire others to reach out to youth, through adoption, foster parenting or another mentoring relationship. Others question whether it is a good picture of adoption. Perhaps it is not realistic enough, some say. Perhaps it plays into the “rescue” stereotypes—black boy from “broken home” taken into a “good Christian home” by wealthy white couple. “The Blind Side” is the story of pro football player Michael Oher, who was a first-round draft pick for the Baltimore Ravens, and of the Tuohys, a Memphis couple who invited … Continue reading

Jesse and His Girl Hit by a Drunk Driver

If Sandra Bullock’s husband Jesse James were a cat, by my calculations he would only have about five lives left. The “Monster Garage” star has not only survived numerous motorcycle accidents and an attempt last year by some whacked out fan to plow him over with her Mercedes, but now word has it that James has also escaped serious injuries in a drunk driving accident. According to Boston newspapers, Bullock and her husband were hit by an alleged out of control drunk driver last night while being chauffeured to the Massachusetts home they are renting while the actress finishes production … Continue reading

Hollywood Do-gooders Strike Again

Can you image walking across the stage at your high school graduation and locking eyes with actress Sandra Bullock? That’s exactly what happened to some unsuspecting New Orleans high school seniors just a few days ago. Bullock and her husband Jesse James sat in the front row to witness 191 students receive their diplomas. The students make up the first graduating class from Warren Easton High School since Hurricane Katrina nearly leveled it in 2005. According to the school’s principal, Bullock donated more than $100,000 to the school and provided more than two dozen $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors. School … Continue reading
