Apple Releases iPhone Security Patch And More

You may remember an earlier article about the possible security issues surrounding the iPhone, wherein hackers could potentially gain access to the personal information stored on the phone or use that information to spread spam. While there have been no reported cases of any problems with the security of the iPhone, testing by a security company raised the concern of potential problems. Nonetheless, Apple decided to quickly respond to these concerns by releasing a software patch that address these security issues and bugs. Although the vulnerability was only a theory, this recent patch will make it harder for potential criminals … Continue reading

Are You Technically Rude?

With all of the great new surges in technology we are experiencing, lately, it seems that poor old Emily Post is having a hard time keeping up. That is, there is often an entire collective phenomena of “unconscious rudeness” that happens several times a day, every day. Take this morning for example. I went for a lovely walk outdoors. It was serene and peaceful; very zen. That is until someone who was walking a few feet behind me decided to make a cell phone call. I got to hear all about this person’s life; how she suspected her husband of … Continue reading

What Will that iPhone Cost You?

With the highly anticipate launch of the iPhone, scheduled for this coming Friday, June 29th, people everywhere are gearing up to head down to the store, money in hand. While some people may head to the Apple Store to purchase their iPhone, Apple itself recommends that customers head over to AT&T instead. This is because Apple employees have not been trained in all of the various rates and service plans that will be available to iPhone owners. But, do the AT&T employees themselves know? AT&T has been very hush-hush about what plans will be available and what the costs of … Continue reading

iPhone on The Move

Eager for the iPhone to arrive? In anticipation of Friday’s iPhone release date, shipments of the Apple iPhone have been making their way through the United States during this past weekend. The iPhones are currently being stored in various locations throughout the country, in FedEx storage facilities. They will remain in those facilities until they mobilize again for the big launch. The somewhat covert operation of moving all of those iPhones has caused some challenges. For example, the arrival of the iPhones had to be heralded in with armed security guards, such as the kind you might find guarded Wells Fargo … Continue reading

iPhone: The 12th Icon

Have you seen the iPhone mock up on Apple’s website? It features some pretty colorful icons that promise that the iPhone will do all sorts of great features. There are four icons at the bottom: Phone, Mail, Web and iPod, that show off the standard functionality of the iPhone. But on the rest of the screen, there are other icons, eleven to be exact, lined up along the screen like little soldiers. Well, lined up like little soldiers who are waiting for their last comrade to arrive. There appears to be one icon that is missing. Maybe I am the … Continue reading

The Popularity of the iPhone

There is no doubt that the popularity of the iPhone is through the roof, even before it has actually been released. Anyone who owns a mobile phone has heard of the iPhone and probably wants one. Already news reports have been coming in projecting that there is much more demand of the iPod than there will be supply. This “panic” probably feeds the gotta-have-its a bit, after all, scarcity often makes things seem more attractive, but the desire for an iPhone is much more than your typical tickle-me-elmo type hype. According to the magazine, Information Week, for an example of … Continue reading

Following the Terrorist Bus Bombings in London a movement to educate the public and start a new trend was made when Scotland Yard issued a request that citizens be sure to I.C.E. their cell phones. This movement started because in the aftermath of the bombings many dead and injured people were found in possession of cell phones. Authorities and emergency workers finding the cell phones believed they were good tools to use for contacting family or friends of unidentified victims. The problem was that most of the found cell phones had more then just a few programmed phone numbers or … Continue reading
