Cynthia Nixon Settles Down and Woody Allen Settles

Cynthia Nixon, probably best known for playing Miranda on “Sex and the City,” has announced that she and her girlfriend of five years are engaged. Nixon, who has a son and daughter with former boyfriend Danny Mozes, met Christine Marinoni, an education activist, in early 2004 and the two began dating later that year. Nixon said that she never had an issue with her sexuality. After being in a fifteen year heterosexual relationship, she simply “met this woman” and “I fell in love with her.” Calling their relationship “fantastic,” the two have now decided to make it legal – well, … Continue reading

Hit me baby one more time. It’s semi-official: The girls from “Sex and the City” will be reuniting on the big screen yet again. At least according to Kim Cattrall. The actress who played Samantha in the HBO series and this year’s mega-successful “Sex and the City: The Movie,” confirmed to British news reporters that a sequel is in the works. The 52-year-old actress revealed that she is “thrilled” to be giving the fans what they want. “The fans keep saying, ‘Yes, one more,’” Cattrall told reporters. “The movie was so much fun to do and be part of again.” … Continue reading

Musings on Singles, Labels, and a “Big” Wedding

As I noted in a comment response to Jade on my “Single Side of Things” article the other day, I finally had a chance to watch Sex and the City: The Movie. In “The ‘Biggest’ Wedding of the Season?”, I’d mused about what the movie would deliver. A lot of happily-ever-after endings for Carrie and her BFFs? Meaning a wedding to Big for Carrie, and Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha having nothing but joy and contentment in their relationships. In the end that’s what the movie delivered, but not before some major heartache was endured. Life Imitating Art The weird thing … Continue reading

Pop Culture Potpourri: “Sex and the City” Turns Back the Clock and Croc Hunter’s Mini Me

Have you ever wondered what Carrie Bradshaw was like as a teen? (And I’m not talking about Sarah Jessica Parker’s stint on TV’s Square Pegs.) Sex and the City is going back in time thanks to creator Candace Bushnell. The author recently announced that she is writing a series of literary prequels featuring her most famous character, Carrie Bradshaw. The pair of teen novels will reportedly focus on the high school adventures of Bradshaw, (who was portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker on the big and small screen) and be named The Carrie Diaries. Bushnell says that she is concentrating on … Continue reading

The “Biggest” Wedding of the Season?

If you’re a Sex and the City fan you may be like me (and Libby Pelham, one of the Popular Culture Blog gals): anticipating the movie’s release this week. Wayne and I faithfully followed all of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha’s adventures during the show’s run, and were sad when the series ended. But it sure wrapped up nicely, didn’t it? Big and Carrie together, Miranda and Steve happily rearing their child, Charlotte and Harry having finally adopted, and Samantha learning to let love in. So what will the movie bring? Judging from the trailers, the main event just might … Continue reading
