Rosie O’Donnell Returns to TV and Billy Joel Returns a Favor

You didn’t really think she would stay away forever, did you? The rumors that have been flying around for months have finally been confirmed: Rosie O’Donnell is returning to the airwaves as host of her own TV variety show titled “Rosie’s Variety Hour.” (Original, huh?) According to Variety, O’Donnell’s new show will debut on November 26th on NBC. Right now the peacock network is airing the pre-Thanksgiving show as a network special, but execs say if the ratings are strong the hour-long show could become a permanent part of NBC’s primetime line-up. Producers say the comedian plans to fill her … Continue reading

Now that Paul McCartney has finally settled his bitter $48.6 million divorce from second wife Heather Mills he is turning his attention to his one true love—-his cherished first wife Linda. In honor of the photographer, singer and animal rights activist the former Beatle is planning to release a coffee table book he says he hopes illustrates his devotion to his beloved late wife. Linda McCartney died in 1998 after losing her battle with breast cancer. According to reports, McCartney will “share lots of intimate moments” of his life with his “best friend” in the book, which will be released … Continue reading

Celebrity TMI (Too Much Information)

Since breaking up with Jessica Simpson singer John Mayer apparently isn’t getting the amount (or quality) of press he desires. In fact, the award-winning crooner has become the target of some rather interesting (that’s as nice a word as I could come up with) rumors, including this one (the tamest one I could share on this site) that claims Mayer “Googles himself every morning.” That quote comes directly from the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six. The paper alleges that the young pop star is so obsessed with his public persona, he routinely visits the popular online search engine … Continue reading

Life After “Dancing with the Stars”

What is life like for someone who has just walked away with a glittery mirrored disco ball trophy and the title of America’s best celebrity fox-trotter? According to season four “Dancing with the Stars” champ Apolo Ohno, life without dancing is… well… hard to get used to. “After the show I started training again for the Olympics but realized quickly that I couldn’t go on without at least one more week of Samba,” the 25-year-old super speed-skater recently told reporters. To cure his withdrawal from shaking and shimming on the dance floor the Olympian announced he would be joining the … Continue reading

Creating The Next Generation Of Crocodile Hunters

His life may have been tragically cut short, but 8-year-old Bindi Irwin does not want the world to forget her late father “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin. That’s why she is making the decision to continue the educational and conservation work he worked tirelessly to promote. Hence the creation of “Bindi: The Jungle Girl.” The series, which will air on the Discovery Kids Channel in the United States and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation beginning next month is an attempt to show kids that they can make a difference in the wild. “I’m proud to be showing kids that conservation and helping … Continue reading

Scotty’s Ashes Beamed Up To Space

Okay, be honest. How many times have you used the phrase “Beam me up Scotty?” Whether you are a “Star Trek” fan or not, the iconic line from the original TV series is likely one you’ve heard or employed yourself since it was first used in the late 1960’s. Decades later, the line is taking on new meaning as reports confirm that the ashes of James Doohan, who played chief engineer Montgomery “Scotty” Scott on the original show, are one step closer to being beamed up into space. According to media reports, Doohan’s cremated remains were placed aboard a spaceship … Continue reading

Where Are They Now—Jerry Seinfeld

Jerry Seinfeld used to be a regular member of my household—-in my pre-mom days. Like millions of others, I too was a rabid “Seinfeld” fan, and even when the NBC hit comedy ended in 1998 I remained loyal by watching the show in syndication. Since then I got married, gave birth and life changed—my “Seinfeld” days are now officially over. Coincidentally, in the days since his award-winning sitcom went off the air Seinfeld too has gone from top paying actor to husband and dad. The comedian still does standup, but spends most of his time as husband to wife Jessica … Continue reading

TV’s Latest Bachelor Is A Real “Prince”

This is not a review of the TV show “The Bachelor” (I will leave that to the folks in the “Media Reviews” blog), rather this blog is a commentary on the types of men who make the final cut and are bestowed the title of “The Bachelor.” This season’s “Bachelor” (which begins airing on ABC next week) is a real prince, and I don’t mean that facetiously. The guy is an actual Italian prince. According to the show’s website, the newest reality “hunk,” Lorenzo Borghese has real royal blood coursing through his veins thanks to his New York City-based parents … Continue reading

Sesame Street Gets A Shot Of Girl Power

There’s a new face on Sesame Street… and she is pretty in pink. Abby Cadabby is the newest kid on the block, and she’s giving Bird Bird, Cookie Monster, Ernie, Bert, Elmo, and Oscar a run for their money. Look at those names again. Bird Bird, Cookie Monster, Ernie, Bert, Elmo, and Oscar… add in Telly Monster, Grover, Harry Monster and Baby Bear. What do they all have in common? They are all BOYS! Since the popular children’s show made its debut in 1969, nearly all of Sesame Street’s biggest stars have been male. Until now. Abby Cadabby is all … Continue reading

Spelling Family Feud Rages On

The ugly battle between legendary TV producer Aaron Spelling’s wife and daughter is getting even uglier. Since the mogul’s death two months ago Candy Spelling and daughter ex-90210 star Tori Spelling have engaged in a highly publicized war of words. The latest chapter in the bitter dispute involves a special tribute Tori had planned to executive produce and host in memory of her late father. ABC had planned to air the televised memorial this fall, but according to PEOPLE Magazine, Spelling’s widow and Tori’s mom, Candy has blocked the project. A source close the project tells PEOPLE: “All of his … Continue reading
