A View of “The View’s” New Season

Did greed get in the way of making the ladies a quintet? Will Elizabeth give birth on air? And will Whoopi really last the entire season? Those questions and more should be answered in the coming weeks as ABC’s daytime chatfest kicks off its 11th season on September 4th. Yesterday the network unveiled the official promo shot for “The View,” and new moderator Whoopi Goldberg doesn’t look as uncomfortable as I thought she might. I know she willing took the job, so why should she look repulsed in the shot that has a very pregnant Elizabeth Hasselbeck smashed up against … Continue reading

Whoopi’s View on “The View”

Now that she is officially the newest member of the ABC chatfest “The View” it seems everyone is clamoring to hear what Whoopi Goldberg has to say about her new role on daytime TV. The answer: not much. Goldberg tells viewers if they are looking to get an earful on-air or off regarding her views on controversial topics they may be disappointed. The award-winning actress says she is has a more relaxed approach to hosting than her predecessors and doesn’t need to say much to get her point across. “I disagree with a lot of stuff a lot of people … Continue reading

Joel Siegel Dies

Did you see the tribute ABC did to Joel Siegel this morning? It made me tear up even though I had seen most of the footage when it aired last night on 20/20. For those of you who are having a hard time placing the name, Joel Siegel was Good Morning America’s longtime film critic and former WABC entertainment correspondent. He died Friday after a decade-long battle with cancer. He was 63. His friends and colleagues at ABC called him a “brilliant reviewer” and a “great reporter.” Diane Sawyer called him a “gladiator” and Charlie Gibson referred to Siegel as … Continue reading

Miss Your Favorite TV Show?

I really enjoy watching the show “How I Met Your Mother”. Unfortunately I usually find myself away from home Monday nights when it airs, and realize about the time it would be ending that I have forgotten to set my VCR. Understanding my plight CBS along with NBC and ABC have started to make episodes of their popular television programs available to watch on the Internet with a few clicks of a mouse. Most of the programs are only available to watch for one week before they are replaced by the most recent episode, so you have to keep up … Continue reading

It’s A Boy For Popular News Anchor

ABC news anchor Elizabeth Vargas and her husband, Grammy-winner Marc Cohn are celebrating the birth of their newest family member—a baby boy. According to PEOPLE Magazine, Samuel Wyatt Cohn, was born Wednesday and weighed in at a healthy 7 lbs. 9 oz. Cohn tells the magazine that the baby “came out with a full head of hair” and both mom and son are doing “incredible.” This is the second child for Vargas and Cohn (who had the hit song “Walking in Memphis”). They are also parents to a three-year-old son, Zachary. Cohn adds: “Samuel looks very much like his adorable … Continue reading

ABC Scrapbooks – Five More ABC Lists

ABC ablums are so much fun to create, but thinking up lists of ABC words can be difficult. I’ve compiled a few that I’ve had for many years. I add to them whenever I think of a new word or see something that should be on it. I hope you will do the same. If there are some needed words missing, just let me know! High School ABC’s by author unknown A – Annuals, athletics, Algebra B – books, band, ball games, C – college prep classes, computer lab, calculators, chemistry, calculus, choir, cheer leading D – Driver’s Ed, diploma, … Continue reading

Luke and Laura—Back Together Again!

“General Hospital” fans are ecstatic (at least I am) about the news that Luke and Laura Spencer (the ABC soap opera’s most popular couple) will be reunited once again. According to ABC, Genie Francis, who originated the role of Laura nearly 30 years ago, will return to the show to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Luke and Laura’s wedding. The fictional wedding, seen by 30 million viewers on Nov. 16, 1981, is still ranked as one of the most watched shows in television history. At the time, there was so much hype surrounding the TV nuptials that Newsweek magazine put … Continue reading

Charlie Gibson’s Good Bye Party

Joan Lunden will be there, old favorite David Hartman, Diane Sawyer (of course) and some “surprise guests.” The gang is coming together tomorrow to wish Charlie Gibson well as he departs from the anchor desk at ABC’s “Good Morning America.” But don’t expect Wednesday’s farewell block party to be anything like the pull-out-all-the-stops-and-don’t-forget-the-Kleenex extravaganza that NBC threw Katie Couric when she departed from the Today show in May. Why? Well, first of all, Gibson is not really going anywhere. He is merely changing time slots from mornings to evenings. A few months ago Gibson was named primary anchor for ABC’s … Continue reading

How to Get the Guy

So I was watching television the other morning and I saw an ad for a television show that made me do a double take. I may have mentioned here in the last few months that I am really not the demographic that reality television is trying to target. In fact, I really dislike reality television in general as exploitive, borderline abusive and just downright voyeuristic. That being said, I’m likely going to have to watch at least one episode of this new show just because it features wait for it: love coaches. That’s right – did you ever see the … Continue reading
