Clint Eastwood Announces Retirement from Acting

His illustrious career in Hollywood has spanned more than a half-century, and according to 78-year-old movie legend Clint Eastwood, that’s enough. At least in regards to acting. Just a few days ago the Tinseltown icon announced that he plans to retire from acting. “You always want to quit while you are ahead,” Eastwood told Britain’s Sunday Express. “You don’t want to be like a fighter who stays too long in the ring until you’re not performing at your best.” Fortunately, there is some good news to report: Eastwood says by stepping away from acting projects he will have more time … Continue reading

China’s Most Popular Export Milking the Olympics

You don’t need to have in-depth knowledge about China to know how much actor Jackie Chan means to the country. Chan and basketball superstar Yao Ming are China’s golden boys and its most popular exports (along with Mu Shu Pork). Right now all eyes are on Beijing as the Summer Olympic Games enter week two and no surprise, Chan is in the middle of all the action. The Chinese government recruited the movie star as an Olympic ambassador and he has been busy promoting the Chinese culture at various sporting events. “The Forbidden Kingdom” star was also given the honor … Continue reading

Bernie Mac is Dead

He didn’t make it. Six days ago I blogged about actor Bernie Mac’s ill health. At the time, the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated TV star was said to be battling pneumonia in a Chicago hospital, but Mac’s rep told reporters that the comedian was on the road to recovery and was expected to be released in a few days. Sadly, it appears things didn’t turn out the way Mac and his loved ones had hoped. Less than an hour ago the actor’s publicist issued a statement saying that Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia. He … Continue reading

Mel Ferrer Dies at Age 90

Mel Ferrer, actor, director, producer, and former husband of Audrey Hepburn passed away this week at the age of 90 after a long illness. Mel was born in 1917 in New Jersey, the son of a doctor and socialite mother. He went to private schools and even attended Princeton University briefly. He originally wanted to be a writer, leaving Princeton to write a book in Mexico (the children’s book “Tito’s Hats”) and spending a year in New York as a book editor. However, his tall, dark, and handsome looks soon landed him in acting, a field that many believe he … Continue reading

Bill Cosby Strikes Again

I don’t know about you but I love it when Bill Cosby shows up to guest speak at public functions. The Jell-O king never minces words and his tough talk is always dead on. Yesterday the 70-year-old comedian appeared at a conference of community associations to address the ills facing African Americans. As he often (see: always) does at events like these the award-winning actor dished out yet another harsh analysis on the state of African American culture by targeting families in which “babies are wearing $40 sneakers while their mothers are feeding them Oodles of Noodles.” Ouch, right? Not … Continue reading

Charlton Heston Dies

Legendary actor Charlton Heston died last night. He was 84 years old. According to news reports, the Oscar winner’s wife of 64 years was by his side when he passed away in the couple’s Beverly Hills home. No word on what caused his death, but it was no secret that the movie star had been diagnosed with symptoms similar to those of Alzheimer’s disease. (In 2002 Heston appeared in a video confirming he was suffering from memory loss and other “challenges.”) Heston will likely be best remembered for his chariot-racing role in 1959’s “Ben Hur,” in which he won an … Continue reading

Jack is Back

In love, that is. Well, almost. Jack Nicholson, known as much for his ability to score with women as he is to score acting awards says he is ready to fall in love again. The legendary ladies’ man says he is a fool for love and is not letting his age (he’s 70 years old) stop him from trying to woo women. However, the Oscar winner does admit that as he heads into his sixth decade of dating he has fine tuned his approach. “I can’t hit on a girl in public like I used to,” Nicholson recently told AARP … Continue reading

Will Smith’s Hitler Comment Brouhaha

Where would the Anti-Defamation League without celebrities making remarks that can be twisted into controversy? While the rest of us spent the last few days putting the finishing touches on holiday baking, gift buying, and attending family functions, actor Will Smith was trying to convince the Anti-Defamation League that a quote used by a Scottish newspaper was nothing more than a statement taken out of context. The rapper turned actor was quoted in the Daily Record as saying, “Even Hitler didn’t wake up going, ‘Let me do the most evil thing I can do today.’ I think he woke up … Continue reading

Actor Speaks Out About Special Son

Actor Colin Farrell is used to the media spotlight. In fact, the movie star use to revel in his reputation for being one of Tinseltown’s hard-core party boys. Which is why when news broke that Farrell had fathered a boy with his ex-girlfriend no one really expected him to cut-back on his nightly appearances at various Hollywood hot spots. After all, he had admitted in more than one interview that it was in his Irish blood to have a good time no matter where he was. That being said many of Farrell’s fans were quite shocked when the actor fell … Continue reading

Owen Wilson—The Sad Story Making Headlines

Actor Owen Wilson continues to recover in a California hospital today four days after rescue crews responded to his home and his life changed forever. Santa Monica police confirmed that officers responded to an attempted suicide at Wilson’s house on Sunday. In the days since, producers of the movie Wilson was days away from beginning work on said the star will no longer be a part of the project. As with most Hollywood tragedies, fans will likely never learn all the details surrounding Wilson’s emotional breakdown. But, that’s certainly not stopping tabloids and other entertainment sources from trying to piece … Continue reading
