Friendship Theme – My Personal Album Day Seven

My Personal Friendship album is finally in full swing. I’m on a roll and ready to finish this up! My friend will visit soon and she will enjoy reading what I’ve said about her friendship and looking at all the great photos. When I finally began working on the first page in my childhood friends section, I found it to be the most difficult to come up with. I had a vision in my mind of what I wanted it to look like, but when I tried to create it, I had some trouble. So I took an extra day … Continue reading

Friendship Theme Album – My Personal Album Day Three

I’ve been talking about my Friendship Album I started last year and never finished. I seemed to get frustrated with it, and I’ve undergone some serious research to discover why. But first, let me show you some of the additional problems I was facing. Because of the size of the album (6X6), I couldn’t use the photographs I wanted. Most of the letter’s or journaling that I had, were so big they almost took up the whole page. This left very little room to see the papers that I had chosen specifically for each friend. When choosing the papers for … Continue reading

Tips For Creating a First Year Baby Album

Creating an album celebrating your child’s accomplishments during his or her first year is a wonderful way to capture the exciting growth that takes place during the year. This can seem like an overwhelming project, but with a little planning, it should be a fun project. I have now created three first year baby albums, one for each of our three kids and I have learned a lot during the process. I’d love to share some tips for managing the project and would love to hear about what others have done for their child’s baby album. Keep a daily calendar … Continue reading

Preparing for a Gift Album

Small albums can make meaningful gifts for family and friends. My daughter Audrey is going to a birthday party on Saturday for one of her closest friends, Ashley, who is turning six years old. Audrey and I were talking earlier this week about what she would like to give to Ashley for her birthday. I suggested that we make a gift album for her with pictures of the girls from over the past several years. Audrey’s face lit up at the suggestion and we had a plan in the making! The first step in creating a gift album is deciding … Continue reading

Theme Albums – Cousins’ Book – Part 5: Miriam’s Pages

Miriam is my oldest and this layout really describes her well. She is very elegant, simple and gorgeous. I chose a green pin-stripe pattern for the base of her layout. I knew that her very favorite color is pink so I chose to accent her page with pink and only pink. Part of what makes Miriam’s layout so beautiful is the simplicity of it. I used three chipboard hearts from Heidi Swapp’s new line, which I totally love! I distressed the hearts using Ranger’s Distressing Ink. Distressing has quickly becoming one of my favorite techniques to use in my scrapbooking … Continue reading

Theme Album – Cousins’ Book – Part 4: Brenden’s Pages

Brenden, the third oldest cousin, is very precocious and creative so his mom chose a fun green and blue plaid pattern for the base of her layout. She really liked the look of Michael’s white square with the folded corner (see Cousins’ Book – Michael’s Pages) so she repeated it with some variations. She chose not to paint the edges instead she used a ½ inch strip of green and white polka dot along the entire right side of the square. She painted the brads using the same technique as Michael’s book. Instead of having the name and journaling on … Continue reading

Theme Albums – Cousins Book – Part 3: Danny’s Pages

The second cousin in our family is Danny. He is the second child of three and is very sensitive to things being fair. So his mom took great lengths to create a very special page for his part of the cousins’ book. She chose a cool blue and white checked pattern for the base of her layout. Danny loves Nintendo and Pokemon so she decided to accent the base with a lime green color as well as the green from the Making Memories (MM) kit. She cut two bold 3 x 6 inch strips of the lime green Bazzill Basics … Continue reading
