Free or Cheap Online Money Management

I have used Quicken forever. The first version I used was on a DOS platform. I have Quicken online at Intuit’s website; although I haven’t used it to the extent I’ve used my Quicken Desktop. Honestly, I haven’t even explored what the online version is really capable of because I’ve been using Quicken for so long that I’m a creature of habit. I have the Quicken app for iPhone, but it looks like I never set it up to use it. Quicken Online is now Mint.com. There is also an app for that. I love it. It really does track … Continue reading

iPhone for Money Management

When Apple first introduced the iPhone I thought people were absolutely silly for waiting in line for a phone. Years later people again waited in line and preordered the iPhone 4, so I guess I’m still amazed. As much as I wanted an iPhone, I didn’t want one that badly. I wasn’t willing to pay the cost of the phone to begin with and certainly not until I was eligible for an upgrade. I got my opportunity this past February. I asked Santa for an iPhone for Christmas and then waited impatiently for an upgrade to become available. I had … Continue reading

iPhone App for Pet Adoption

I blogged recently about pet adoption. I truly believe that adopting a pet from a shelter is the best way to take home an animal companion. There are so many animals to choose form right now too. With the economy hurting, many families and individuals are finding that they can no longer afford to keep their pets. It’s sad, but true. Shelters are overwhelmed with animals. One of the local news networks here ran a story about an area shelter that suspended its adoption fees to help families adopt pets. I called the shelter to find out how well it … Continue reading

TabbedOut iPhone App

When I was a little girl I had my first savings account. Mom or Dad would take me down to the bank to deposit or withdraw money. The bank was open limited hours during the day, shorter hours on Friday, and closed on Saturday. When I was old enough I could ride my bicycle or walk to the branch in our foothill town. Then our bank had the most amazing contraption installed outside; it was called an ATM or automated teller machine. With the ATM customers could do a number of simple transactions without having to talk to a teller … Continue reading

Should You Buy an iPhone 3G?

With the release of the new 3G iPhone, the device is transitioning from a cool cutting edge device with status to a cool necessity still with status. What has changed? With the previous iPhone release, there were two camps of thought. The first said “This is cool, and it is cutting edge, and I gotta have it.” The second said, “This is cool, and it is bleeding edge, and I’m going to wait until they work out the bugs and reduce the price.” Well, now with the new 3G release, the two camps can merge into one. The first group … Continue reading

My Pseudo Cell Phone

My cell phone-less status is being threatened. Next week I will have a birthday, and my husband is already hinting around for ideas on what to get me. By hinting around I mean that he point blanks asks me, Do you want a cell phone, an iPod or what? If you want both then what about the iPhone? I crush his hopes almost immediately when I tell him that I dont need any of that. After all, I could always use his nano, if I really wanted one, although the last time I tried that for morning walks I would … Continue reading

Apple Upgrades the iPhone and iTouch

Apple has upgraded the iPhone with a new capacity. In addition to the 8GB iPhone for $399, there is also now a 16GB iPohone with a retail price of $499. When the iPhone was first released, in came in the 4GB version and the 8GB version. Apple then decided to discontinue the 4GB capacity iPhone and cut the price on the 8GB version. Apple feels that while consumers are looking for an iPhone with more than 4GB, that there is still plenty of room in their hearts for the 8GB. The Apple iPod Touch is also upgraded to a higher … Continue reading
