The TV star was first diagnosed with the insidious disease in 2006 and has undergone chemotherapy and aggressive experimental treatments in the years since. After all, you want him around for a long time to come, don’t you? Statistics have shown that carrying too much weight around can be bad for the heart and can also lead to other problems such as diabetes. More Bad News for Jessica Simpson and Don Imus

Jessica Simpson proves once again that you don’t need to memorize the words to a song to be a singer. As long as you look good in Daisy Dukes, and can use cheat sheets in the recording studio, you can call yourself a recording star. For the seventh time this year, Simpson was left red-faced and teary-eyed at a concert when she forgot the lyrics to two of her songs. She wasn’t drunk, fatigued or under duress; instead the blonde crossover says she simply blanked during a concert in California on Saturday. The gig was her final performance as the … Continue reading

Living Close to Family

Families that live close to each other are happiest, have less cancer and less disease. This was one of the interesting points raised in ‘This is Your Brain on Joy – A Revolutionary Program for Balancing Mood, Restoring Brain Health, and Nurturing Spiritual Growth.’ And yes, I did get Mick to take the Amen Brain Scan Checklist last night. He found it interesting. His came out pretty much as I expected, with perhaps only a couple of answers differing from what I might have expected. But yes, it was different to mine, especially in certain areas. The ones to do … Continue reading

Recipe for Disaster

Wet paws and a tile floor created a recipe for disaster. I landed with a massive crash. My eye blurred. My head started to swim. I couldn’t make up my min if I was going to faint or be sick or both. In the end I did neither. Mick helped me up and into a chair. From that point on he was wonderful as he got me dressed and to the hospital. All the time we were both praying it wasn’t going to be as bad as it looked. After all it’s only last year I broke my wrist on … Continue reading

What Did I Do to My Back?!

Back pain is a pretty common complaint. But there isn’t just one type of back pain — and there isn’t just one thing that causes the problem. Here are three major causes of back pain. A sprain or strain is the most common cause of back pain. Tendons and ligaments are the stretchy stuff in your body that (among other things) hold the vertebrae of your spine in place and attach muscles to the spinal column. An injury or tear to a tendon, ligament, or muscle can cause some serious pain. Why? If these support pieces are weak or injured, … Continue reading

According to the CDC report that surveyed nearly forty thousand households: The rate … Continue reading

Can Exercising Reduce Your Risk of Breast Cancer?

A new study suggests that women who participate in vigorous exercise can lessen their risk of contracting breast cancer. The new research was conducted by the National Cancer Institute and gives post-menopausal women hope for healthier years ahead. The study followed more than 32,000 women who were enrolled in a Breast Cancer Detection Demonstration. Each woman provided answers to a questionnaire asking about their physical activity (including everyday tasks like housework, work related activity and leisure activity) over the course of a year. Researchers then performed statistical tests to estimate the relative risk of post-menopausal breast cancer linked to physical … Continue reading

9-Year-Old Triathlete Makes History

If you are looking for motivation to kick-start your daily exercise routine here it is: At just 9 years old Winter Vinecki swam 1.5k (a little less than a mile), biked 40k (roughly 25 miles) and ran 10k (about 6.2 miles) in less than 4 hours. And she didn’t do it because she loves to exercise; rather the Michigan native competed in the inaugural Athletes for a Cure Triathlon at the Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida last week for one reason—her dad. Winter’s father is fighting for his life. Michael Vinecki was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of … Continue reading
