CDC Provides Guidance for Visiting Beaches and Pools

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provide guidance for unvaccinated people who are visiting beaches and pools. This information was updated on February 19, 2021. According to the CDC, the COVID-19 virus is thought to spread mostly person-to-person, by respiratory droplets released when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks, These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. The virus might also spread to hands from a contaminated surface and then to the nose, mouth, or possibly eyes. Infected people can spread the virus whether … Continue reading

Recycling Your Christmas Tree

Well, it’s New Year’s Eve and it is time for out with the old and that includes your live Christmas tree.  I love live trees because they smell so good, but then there is always the question of what to do with it when you are done. Of course, you could always just put it on the side of the curb for trash pickup, but aren’t there some better, greener solutions? There are! First, many communities are now offering Christmas tree recycling pick-ups.  And, if your community doesn’t offer pick-up, they may at least have a location you can take … Continue reading

Prep for Swimming!

This weekend my wife and I took a small break from our normal lives, went to a big box store and bought our son some swimming diapers, and took him to a pool. At one point I was a certified lifeguard (thought that has long since lapsed) but I’ve generally enjoyed the water. My wife also enjoys the water and we both figured this would be a good experience for our son to have before the really hot summer months begin to oppress our neck of the woods. We were unsure about how he would react to the water. He’s … Continue reading

You Are What You Eat

You know the old saying that you are what you eat? Well it is truer than you might think. Obviously we know that the healthier you eat, the healthier your body will be. If you feed it with junk, then your body stands at greater risk of breaking down. So if you want to look younger and feel younger, then feed your body with things that will make it look and feel better. As we get older we notice more and more changes in our body. Women tend to want that aging progression to slow down more so we might … Continue reading

Stepping Over the Line

Have you ever seen Botox gone badly? Last week my daughter and I were watching Celebrity Apprentice. It is now down to rocker Bret Michaels and actress Holly Robinson Peete. However, first they had to undergo some tough interviewing by a former Apprentice winner and comedian Joan Rivers. My daughter was shocked at what she saw. She wanted to know what was wrong with Joan Rivers’ face. I had to explain what too much plastic surgery can do. She is not the only one to go too far in an attempt to look younger. Cosmetic procedures that have gone over … Continue reading

Beauty on the Run

There is nothing worse than waking up late and having to quick get ready and rush out the door. This is especially true if you are a mother and have kids to also get going. I do enjoy putting on my eye shadow on some days but there are other days where I really don’t have time to mess with it. If I am in a … Continue reading

Do You Feel Beautiful When You Are Pregnant?

Over the past few years, as many of my friends have gotten pregnant and had their own families, I’ve gotten to witness a wide variety of reactions to the changes that happen to a pregnant woman’s body. Some women embrace their new curves and flaunt them with fitted maternity clothes. These are the same women who eagerly take photos of their growing belly every week. Some avoid wearing maternity clothes until the last minute, wincing at their growing reflection in the mirror. You’ll be lucky to see their baby belly in their profile picture. Some hardly think twice about what … Continue reading

The Dreaded Swimming Lessons

I love swimming, and so does my daughter. From these two statements, you might assume that we would adore swimming lessons. You’d be dead wrong. When my daughter was a toddler, I decided that I would inspire myself to get out of the house and sign up for some swimming lessons at the local pool. While I thought that baby and toddler swimming lessons were a little silly, I figured that having a particular time scheduled for swimming would help my sorry self get to the pool. We enjoyed the lessons until the instructor decided that all of the toddlers … Continue reading
