Creating a Mural On Your Wall

Every time I watch one of my favorite movies, I’m drawn into the animation. It’s the beauty of the fields that gets me. Even though they’re animated, a lush field of blooming flowers backed by mountains seems like the perfect place for me to drift off for a nap. Of course, I can’t travel into the movie, although it would be nice. However, if I ever had a mural on my wall, it would be of a field of lushly-blooming flowers. So restful! When my daughter was one, I painted a mural on her wall. Use a slide projector or … Continue reading

Summer Fun for Your Allergic Child

Parents of children that have severe allergies might be a bit perplexed about what their child can do for fun this summer. Purchaser’s Insurance and the Case of the Stolen Car

You can find just about anything on eBay. A while ago, eBay started letting people buy and sell cars through the eBay Motors section of the website. People are buying these vehicles based on little more than photos and a brief description. What happens if the car you buy turns out to be a stolen vehicle? This is where the eBay purchaser’s insurance might be helpful. I tend to think of eBay as a giant, virtual, garage sale. You never know for certain what you will find. It is a good place to go to locate a costume for Halloween, … Continue reading

Treating Mild BHP at Home

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a gradual enlargement of the prostate that can put pressure on the urethra. That pressure leads to increased urination. Often, BPH is treated with medication that relaxes inflamed muscles. Some cases are treated with surgery that removes part of the prostate. If your benign prostatic hyperplasia is mild or moderate — the symptoms do not bother you or interfere with daily activities — you may be able to treat your BPH at home. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t see your doctor regularly to check symptoms and see if your BPH has worsened! But you may … Continue reading

Veggies Can Help Reduce The Risk of Prostate Problems

A study from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has found that eating lots of vegetables can reduce your risk of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). Benign prostate hyperplasia is a non-cancerous condition. The prostate becomes enlarged, causing problems with urine flow. There are three common causes of prostate problems: BPH, prostate cancer, and prostatitis. The prostate study tracked more than thirty-two thousand male health care workers, and began in 1986. The average age at the start of the study was 51, though participants ranged in age from 46 to 70. The first phase of the study was a … Continue reading

Mom’s Heart Transplant Journey: The Wait Begins

Mom’s journey to her heart transplant continued. The cardiologists determined that she would need a new a heart, but that it would not be an immediate thing to happen. Basically, she endured a “hurry up and wait” period for some time until she was determined eligible to be placed on the transplant list. Mom went through routine testing before she was placed on the transplant list. These tests consisted of echocardiograms, pulmonary pressure tests that measure the pressures in her heart, blood tests and a test called a BPH test, which if it went higher from test to test, then … Continue reading
