Adventures in No-TV-Land

Just this last weekend, I moved into a trailer house. That’s right, I’m a homeowner now! It’s very exciting, but with the added financial responsibility comes a greater desire to make sure that I’m keeping on budget as much as I possibly can. One of the things that was sacrificed in my quest for financial freedom was our cable TV. My media reviews co-author, Jaime Egan, suggested that I write a blog series about our little adventure in No-TV Land. At first, living without cable seemed very doable. Out of the myriad of diets on the website, there are recommendations, reviews and overviews that give you a very real idea of what you need to do to meet the requirements of the different dieting plans. When a diet plan is a scam, they tell you about it. When it’s a … Continue reading

If you did not stay with relatives or friends on previous vacations, then you most likely you rented a hotel room and a car to get around town in response to a bargain vacation package. You thought you knew beforehand, when you reserved your room, what you would be paying. Suddenly, at checkout time, you’re hit with a price that’s different from what you were quoted. Now you’re angry and questioning the customer service representative’s ability to do his or her job. According to an article written by Alfred Borcover for the Chicago Tribune (Philadelphia Inquierer1/22/06), these extra fees that … Continue reading
