And You Thought Your Vehicle Was Old

I heard about this next guy while listening to the news on my car radio. Who knew that it would give me hope that my vehicle could go another 900,000 miles. No, that figure doesn’t have a few extra zeros. I meant to write each and every one. Because according to a man in Medford, Wisconsin, his pick up truck is about to pass the 1 million mile mark. Frank Oresnik claims his 1991 Chevrolet Silverado is on the verge of making history, as it is just 1,100 miles away from a million. And once it hits the milestone he … Continue reading

Pop Culture Updates: KITT Comes Off the Block and Britney Gets Ready for the Hot Seat

Bad news for all you “Knight Rider” fans hoping to ride into 2008 behind the wheel of a talking car. As I mentioned in a previous blog an original KITT (the chatty car that helped David Hasselhoff escape bad guys on the ’80s TV series “Knight Rider”) was put up for sale on eBay. Unfortunately, the black 1984 Pontiac Trans Am has now been yanked from the popular Internet auction site by the previous owner’s attorney because he says he’s had more inquiries than he can handle. The legendary car is being sold to satisfy the debts of slain real … Continue reading

The Ultimate Christmas Present for “Knight Rider” Fans

Is there anyone who watched the popular ’80s TV series “Knight Rider” and didn’t want to have a KITT car of their own? I remember watching the show as a kid with my brothers. During the commercial breaks my two oldest brothers would grab their own Hot Wheels vehicles and pretend the cars could talk just like the black 1984 Pontiac Trans Am that helped David Hasselhoff escape the bad guys on TV. If I were independently wealthy I would try to make my brothers’ boyhood dreams come true this Christmas by purchasing one of the original KITTs for them. … Continue reading

Sunday Travel Funnies: Freeway Fondue

We’ve all heard of (or seen) highway accidents involving overturned semis. In most cases the truck in question spills its contents all over the road. I’ve personally witnessed overturned beer trucks and in one case a tractor-trailer carrying thousands of pounds of corn overturned near the freeway exit I take to get home. However, neither quite compares to what occurred last week on a California highway. According to news reports, a tractor-trailer hauling dozens of gigantic blocks of cheese erupted in flames, turning much of its cargo into freeway fondue. The good news: no one was hurt. The bad news: … Continue reading
