Do You Play Games with Your Spouse?

I seem to have developed an affinity for coming up with potentially misleading titles this week. A couple of days ago I wrote Change Your Bedding, Change Your Sex Life, which could have been construed to mean I was implying something more simple than what I really was. Now this title could be taken to mean I wonder if you play mind games with your spouse. That might make for an interesting topic one day, but today’s not that day. I’m actually talking about real games. Fun games. Board games, card games, video games, etc. Games Couples Play I’m more … Continue reading

Card Games: Go Fish

Go Fish is a game that is far older than I am. I remember the first time I played Go Fish with my grandmother and it was a great deal of fun. This past weekend, I sat down with my daughter and for the first time we played Go Fish together. We were playing with Dora playing cards to give her some familiarity with the cards and my husband sat with her on her side for the first couple of rounds to give her some backup support if she needed it. Needless to say, she loved the game – we’ve … Continue reading

Make Your Own Card Games

Instead of using regular playing cards to play games like Go Fish, and inserting the joker to play Old Maid, have fun making your own sets of cards and then playing with them! You will need to make 52 cards so make sure you have plenty of supplies before beginning. Poster board is inexpensive and works fine. Measure and mark a piece of poster board into equally sized rectangles. Cut them out carefully (adults can help smaller children). Decorate your cards with your favorite characters, sports, or anything you like. For example, instead of having a King of hearts, clubs, … Continue reading
