Shopping for the Woman in Your Life

Are you looking for a great gift for your wife, fiancé, or girlfriend? You know you want to give her something special, but maybe you’re not quite sure what that is. While some men are fantastic at picking out the perfect gift, others have a little more trouble with it. The best advice I can give you (as a woman myself) is to choose something that is especially for her. I’ve mentioned before that vacuum cleaners don’t count as gifts, unless that’s what she specifically asks for, but let me clarify… that also goes for other implements and small appliances … Continue reading

Shopping for the Man in Your Life

Okay, ladies, we tend to think of ourselves as knowing how to shop. It’s an art form and one that most of us have down pat. We also tend to be good at gift giving. However, sometimes when women shop for men that isn’t the case. Instead of buying something that he really wants, some women prefer to give a man what they want him to have. My recommendation is to avoid asking what he wants for Christmas (or any occasion) if you have no intention of getting it for him, because he’ll be disappointed. Making my Christmas List

Each year I make out my Christmas list and try to stash it somewhere the kids won’t find it. One year, I started keeping my shopping list on the computer and I just hide it by giving the file some weird name. I imagine that if it said CHRISTMAS LIST, somebody would be tempted to peek. Besides, it’s so much easier to do it this way. Instead of marking things out as I buy them, and then trying to figure out what that line said when I’m taking stock of my purchases, I simply highlight the items I’ve obtained in … Continue reading

What are You Giving Your Honey for Christmas?

Okay, so you probably don’t want to say what you’re giving him or her this year, in case he or she might see it, but what about all the great gifts you given in the past? Would you like to share some of those ideas? I love thoughtful gifts, not so much “practical,” but truly thoughtful gifts. The kind that take some thought and effort to pick out, the ones that tend to light up faces. I love to pick out just the right thing and watch my husband’s big brown eyes light up and his lips turn into that … Continue reading

Charge it! Cheerful Giving or Buyer’s Remorse?

Do we really want to spend the next entire year paying off Christmas? It is way too easy to spend too much on Christmas gifts for family and friends. We all delight in delighting others, and sometimes we get carried away. When we can whip out the plastic and charge it, we tend to go overboard, because we know we can pay over time. I’ve even seen people put everything on credit cards at the big bargain sales, people who know they won’t pay off the balance immediately. Don’t they realize that they haven’t saved any money when they are … Continue reading
