A Glimmer Of Hope

And then on October 28, 1996, my world changed forever. I went out to get the mail, and there amongst bills and ads, was a big white envelope addressed to me. I didn’t recognize the writing on the envelope but it was definitely a personal letter, and a rather thick one at that. I’m not even sure that I made it to the door with my envelope before I had torn into it. Inside the envelope I pulled out another purple envelope, again addressed to me. This one had a big red rubber stamped mark on it that said “Attempted, … Continue reading

Well, do you know about Sprout? Sprout is PBS Kids for pre-schoolers. Just like many other network websites, Sprout has activities for many of its shows. PBS Kids

PBS has always had quality programming, whether for children or adults. Well, now PBS Kids is around for our children. PBS Kids also has a website that allows you and your child to peruse the PBS Kids programs. From “Sesame Street” and “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” to “Barney” and “Teletubbies,” you and your child are sure to find something that you will both enjoy. Upon entering the PBS Kids site, I decided to explore the section for “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” first because it was always a favorite of mine when I was young. Not only can you explore Mister Rogers’ house, … Continue reading

Playhouse Disney Online

Okay, be honest…who doesn’t love the Disney Channel? I especially love the Disney Channel because of their quality programming for youngsters on Playhouse Disney. In addition to watching Playhouse Disney, my daughter and I often go to PlayhouseDisney.com. Playhouse Disney Online is a great way to supplement whatever your child has learned from the shows on Playhouse Disney. It is also a great site to just go to with your child and have fun. Playhouse Disney Online features many of the Playhouse Disney shows, such as Little Einsteins, Higglytown Heroes, and JoJo’s Circus. Playhouse Disney also features five-minute shorts in … Continue reading

A Dream Was Shattered

It wasn’t long after the contact with my sister that I began to really wonder where my birth mother’s heart was in all of this. I still hadn’t heard anything from her, no relatives said anything about how she felt, and I just didn’t keep asking. For awhile, I was content with the relationships I was building with my biological grandfather, biological uncle, and both my biological brother and sister. But eventually it did get to me. Eventually, it made it worse talking to them, because the more they talked, the more things I wanted to know about her. The … Continue reading

NOGGIN.com

Many parents out there know about NOGGIN — the network by Nickelodeon that is aimed at pre-schoolers. Regardless of the age for which it is intended, to say that my one-and-a-half-year-old daughter loves the shows on NOGGIN is an understatement. Unfortunately, NOGGIN is only available in our area if you have digital cable. Until this week, we had no digital cable in our living room, so my daughter and I spent a lot of time on NOGGIN.com. Hosted by NOGGIN’s cartoon personalities Moose A. Moose and Zee, NOGGIN.com makes just about everything from NOGGIN available. Not only does NOGGIN.com list … Continue reading
