Is it just me, or is there something incredibly romantic about costumes from bygone eras? From medieval gowns to antebellum garb, I’m completely enchanted with the prospect of dressing in the clothes our ancestors once wore. Halloween is a wonderful time of year. It serves as an excuse to indulge the dress-up fantasy. (Face it, just because we get older doesn’t mean the urge to pretend we’re someone else like we once did as children vanishes.) Wayne can pull off sexy. He’s tall and athletic and in good shape. He’d make a dashing officer or chiseled gladiator. Then there’s me. Sexy and I don’t really mix. For one thing, I’d need to lose a dramatic amount of weight to make most of the costumes work on me. For another, I’ve got more of the girl next door demeanor.
