A Mother’s View from the Pool: Why are you Wearing Crocs in the Water?

There’s a fierce debate going on in cyberspace regarding whether “fashionable” people should be wearing Crocs—those plastic clog-like shoes that come in an array of bright colors—in public. I’ll leave that bitter battle to others. However, the popular footwear does play prominently in observations I’ve made this summer as a mom frequenting our local aquatic center. FASHION FILES: BAN ON CROCS Like millions of other kids around the world my daughter has a pair of trendy and stylish Crocs. I swear she would wear those hot pink rubbery clogs everywhere if I’d let her. When it comes to comfort Crocs are hard to beat, which is why I was not surprised to learn that they are very popular amongst nurses. Unfortunately, when it comes to footwear, comfort isn’t winning out over safety at various Pittsburgh area hospitals. I need to start this blog entry with a bit of a disclaimer. Please don’t think that I sit around and watch daytime talk shows all day.
