My Favorite Wife (1940)

James Garner and Doris Day did their own version of this story in the 1963 film “Move Over, Darling,” but “My Favorite Wife” starring Cary Grant and Irene Dunne is the classic original. Cary Grant plays Nick Alden, widower of seven years, who has decided it’s time to move on and get remarried. His wife, Ellen, has not been pronounced legally dead, however. Child Left With Caretaker is Dead

Last Saturday, a seventeen year old Dallas mother of two left her children at the home of Detress Richmond in order to go to work. She needed money and she had been hired to braid hair. Richmond had assured her that she would watch her two daughters. The decision to rely on the woman’s promise turned out to be tragic.
