Overstock.com Closeouts

Now that I have three children, ages six years old and under, I really appreciate being able to shop online. Of course, I still like to get a good sale or a deal. I’ve only ever shopped at Overstock.com once, and that was about two months ago. We needed some drinking glasses, and we got a really great deal. Not only were the glasses on sale, but I was able to use a 30% off coupon as well. The glasses arrived in perfect condition. Because I had such a good experience with Overstock.com, I continue to monitor their deals. Currently, … Continue reading

Great Deal at Borders Bookstores!

I am just so excited about this deal that I couldn’t wait to get back to my computer to share it with you! I should be doing a million other things right now, but I had to write and tell you before the best books are gone. Yesterday, we visited the mall to pick up a present for my youngest son. It was a quick trip, since we had some birthday celebrating to do. Fortunately for me, I passed by the Borders Bookstore. it was actually a Borders Express, but the manager assured me that this great deal was available … Continue reading

Free College Level Classes

With two kids in high school in the fall, I’m starting to think about college credits. We’re probably going to be in that middle area when it comes to loans and grants. Too poor to pay their tuition outright, too wealthy (ha!) to quality for financial aid. Of course I have hopes that there will be scholarships, but since I don’t really want my daughters leaving home to go away to college, the opportunities will be a little more limited. Our state has a program for high schoolers to take community college classes in their junior and senior years. That’s … Continue reading

Frugal Shopping: One CD and Five Different Offers

Are you getting the best deal on your purchase when you shop? I’ll show you how one CD can have five different prices and how you can find the best offer. I am always surprised that more people don’t research their purchases before they buy. It is so easy to do in this age of the internet. Prompted by an offer from Borders in my e-mail, I decided I wanted to reward all of my hard … Continue reading

The Body Shop: Make-up and Other Beauty Products for a Buck

Blue eye shadow, wings, flared Dittos jeans, and frosted orange lip-gloss. If you laughed at yourself, you’re probably in my age range. Those of you shaking your heads don’t know what you missed! That blue eye shadow was a staple in the 70s. It didn’t matter your skin tone, what color eyes you had, what you were wearing, or where you were going. You weren’t complete without that blue eye shadow! I stopped wearing makeup years ago. No, I’m not a granola (at least, I don’t think so!). But my husband didn’t like it. I got foundation on a favorite … Continue reading

Frugal Books: Find Your Used Book Sales Today!

There is nothing like visiting a used book sale. I live the thrill of walking through rooms and rooms of books. Whether the books are carefully organized by subject or jumbled this way and that, each visit to a used book sale is a great adventure. One of my favorite book sales is held in the Radnor Library, here in Pennsylvania. This sale boasts thousands of well-cared-for books that occupy an entire basement. The sale is held twice a year and people come from other states just to experience it. It was at this sale last year that we hit … Continue reading

Save More at The Thrift Store (1)

Did you know that there are some special ways to save even more at the thrift store? Thrift store shopping is a wonderful way to save money and be frugal. Most of the time, thrift stores are run by charities, so any money you spend there will be going to a good cause. I started thrift store shopping after my first child was born. A new stay-at-home-mom, I needed to get out of the house. I didn’t know about play dates then or finding other new moms. So instead, I would put Andrew in his stroller and we would take … Continue reading

Get Your Free Kashi Granola Bar

Kashi is currently offering a free granola bar. You may have seen Kashi commercials where the guys travel all over the world looking for healthy foods that taste good. Cute commercials, that make the point, stuff that’s good for you doesn’t have to taste bad. It doesn’t necessarily have to taste bad, but it seems like a lot of does anyway! The current promotion from Kashi is unique and fun. Jeff Grogg says he “takes it personally” when people say health food tastes like cardboard, and he’s out to prove us wrong. With this challenge, you can sign up for … Continue reading
