I got the funniest email from a reader the other day regarding my blog on Mother’s Day gift ideas. In the post I listed a few photo accessories I thought would make affordable presents for a mother/photographer. Camera shopping is no easy task, especially if you are in the market for your first digital camera. Stroll through a camera shop (or any electronics store for that matter) and you will see shelves crammed with digital cameras of varying sizes. In the increasingly crowded marketplace of digital photo equipment, camera makers have had to distinguish themselves from their competitors in innovative ways. A Powerful Pocket Camera

For 450 bucks it better pack a punch… or at least take some stellar pics. Yes, the Canon PowerShot G9 does retail for $450. And yes, it is a pocket camera. But it does include many of the same features you would expect to see on a SLR.
