Welcome

Welcome to the new Hot Deals Blog. As your new blogger, I look forward to bringing you lots of ways to save money on every aspect of your life. I am a stay at home mom with an eight year old, a two year old, and a new miracle arriving in September. We rely on a creative budget to survive. Ever since I was a child, I remember helping my mom cut and organize coupons, look through magazines for freebies, and scour the Sunday newspapers for great deals. With a continued education in retail marketing, accounting, and journalism, I will … Continue reading

Coupons and Discounts as a “Thank You” to Customers

Earlier today, I suggested snazzy postcards as a way of saying “thank you” to customers and prospects. It dawned on me that sometimes it seems like a simple note of thanks just isn’t enough—especially during this time of year. Some businesses send out a special discount or a coupon as a way of saying “thanks” and this technique can also generate more business as well. I am sure you have been on the receiving end of a special discount or coupon offered to “our best customers” as “a way of saying thank you.” I don’t know about you, but I … Continue reading

End of the Year Sales and Discounts

Trying to clear out inventory and offering sales at the end of the calendar year is not a tactic JUST reserved for large department stores and retail corporations. You can appropriate this sales technique for your small home business too. You don’t even have to be in a product oriented business to make it work… If you are in direct sales or produce and/or sell a product then it might make more sense to you to consider an end-of-the-year sale. People tend to be spending money at this time of year and seemingly more discretionary income to spend so it … Continue reading

Old Navy Flip-Flops $2 Shipped

When I was in high school, I almost never wore shoes. It was southern California, and most days we were in shorts and flip-flops. My favorites were flo-jos (no, nothing to do with Florence Joyner), but any pair that left my feet free to breathe were welcomed. These days, they’re not so practical here in the Northwest except from Memorial Day to Labor Day, but I relish the summer days when rain boots are not necessary. There’s something just so freeing about having your feet bare, or almost bare, anyway. Old Navy is helping me to relive my past, but … Continue reading

Great Deal at Borders Bookstores!

I am just so excited about this deal that I couldn’t wait to get back to my computer to share it with you! I should be doing a million other things right now, but I had to write and tell you before the best books are gone. Yesterday, we visited the mall to pick up a present for my youngest son. It was a quick trip, since we had some birthday celebrating to do. Fortunately for me, I passed by the Borders Bookstore. it was actually a Borders Express, but the manager assured me that this great deal was available … Continue reading

Home and Family: Seasonal Savings Everywhere!

I have been having a blast taking advantage of recent sales. It’s become somewhat of a contest to see how many necessities I can obtain without paying full price. My husband and I were competing the other day, but I of course won. I found socks and underwear on sale at a local store for 50% off. I even got the name brand stuff for half price. No way my husband could beat that deal! When we were clothes shopping for the kids, he did come up with some deals of his own. He found a jean jacket for one … Continue reading

Review: Dollar Tree

I don’t have a lot of choices when it comes to nearby shopping. That’s one of the trade-offs of living in the country. Still, if I go fifty miles in any direction, there are more choices. I don’t normally drive that far just for the heck of it, but if I’m headed out anyway, I make sure to bring my shopping list! On one such trip a while back, I ventured into a Dollar Tree store. Wow! I loved it. It’s much better than most of the other dollar stores I’ve been to, and I got some really good deals. … Continue reading

Discounts and Special Offers for Amusement Parks

My whole family loves amusement parks. We rarely miss one when we’re in the area, and have often planned vacations with them as the center point. They can be expensive, though. With four kids, I’m always up for a way to cut costs. One way is by mystery shopping them. But there are many other ways that you can do that without the report. Here are a few: Universal Studios Hollywood Buy a Day, Get 2007 Free! Yeah, I had to read that to look for the fine print. There isn’t any! Well, except for the blackout dates which are … Continue reading
