Oh My… Miley! G-Rated Star Appears in PG-13 Photos

So, by now I’m sure you are well aware of the whole Miley Cyrus provocative photo brouhaha. For those of you who have been blissfully living in a media-free world allow me to give you an update: The 15-year-old squeaky-clean Disney star might want to stay away from digital cameras for a while. The teen is currently embroiled in two front-page controversies both of which involve racy pictures of her. Last week the singer-actress went on the defensive when “playfully provocative” photos of her posing on her ex-boyfriend’s lap showed up on the Internet. (Cyrus called them “silly.”) In one … Continue reading

What Would You Do For “Hannah Montana” Tickets?

I love my daughter more than words could possibly express. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for her… except, perhaps, spend 144 hours hugging a statute of “Hannah Montana.” Actually, I’d probably do that too. Thankfully, though, I haven’t been put in that position. Which is more than can be said for Jody Powell. The 35-year-old soon-to-be step father of a die-hard “Hannah Montana” fan hung on to a 12-foot statue of “Hannah Montana” for the better part of six days to win tickets to a sold-out concert by Miley Cyrus, star of the Disney Channel TV series. The Tampa … Continue reading

Tesco and Disney Partner for Healthy Kids

Remember when you could get a Happy Meal at McDonald’s and get the latest Disney movie figures, toys and glasses? Well, the Disney Company got a little nervous when it saw so many American kids getting fatter and less fit on the fast food fare so they begged off the 10-year agreement they had with McDonald’s. Mind you, it cost the Disney Company over $100 million a year in royalties to end that relationship but they felt it was the right thing to do. (They also saw the market for junk food dropping while the market for healthy foods began … Continue reading

Is “High School Musical 3” In Trouble?

Oh no, say it isn’t so. Could “High School Musical 3” be in jeopardy? Fans of the popular Disney produced flick: brace yourselves—you may be in for a bumpy ride waiting for word on the future of Gabriella, Troy and the rest of the clan. Following the phenomenal success of Disney Channel’s “High School Musical 2”on the small screen, it makes total sense that Disney execs want to ride the wave of popularity to the big screen. The only problem: SUCCESS = $$$. And any self-respecting agent is not going to let their two-legged paycheck sign on to do a … Continue reading

Friday Night Date With Disney—“We’re All In This Together…”

If you are related to, friends with, live next to, or have an association with any female “tween” in the United States then you likely know what major event is taking place on Friday, August 17th. That’s right; in roughly 118 hours (and counting) Gabriella, Troy, and crew will return to the Disney Channel for the premiere of “High School Musical 2.” (Insert blood-curdling screams from excited tweens across the country.) Not since the countdown to the last days of school has there been this much clock monitoring. Among the elementary-school-aged girls in my extended family the invitations have been … Continue reading

Disney News: This is Disturbing

This news story came across my desk late last night and I have to say – I could hardly believe it when I read it. You may have heard this in the news too, the Disney Channel, a channel we put our faith in to provide our children, particularly our young children, with content that is as far from objectionable as you can get. Last Tuesday morning, at 9:30 a.m., toddlers and other young children tuning in to watch an episode of “Handy Manny” discovered a film depicting hardcore pornography. According to Comcast, the cable company that experienced the interruption … Continue reading

Disney Channel.com, iTunes & More

Disney is more than just Mickey Mouse, though most of us associate it with Mickey and the gang or the animated feature films. Disney is also the parent company that owns the ABC Network and features shows such as Lost, Grey’s Anatomy and more. Disney, like many other networks are utilizing the Internet to extend their programming options. Their efforts have not gone unrewarded as their free, but ad-supported shows are featured on the Disney Channel Web site. News reports indicate there have been more than 37 million downloads and an average of 1 million visitors a day since they … Continue reading

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse – Review

What is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse? It’s a relatively new children’s television series from Disney that began premiered on May 5, 2006. New episodes air on Saturdays and Sundays and it is part of the Playhouse Disney weekend line up. Fans of the classic Disney characters such as Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto, will enjoy the programming that is designed to interact with the young viewers. My daughter is a huge fan of the show and asked if I’d add it to our TiVo so she can watch it during the week. The show engages the viewers by involving … Continue reading

Playhouse Disney Online

Okay, be honest…who doesn’t love the Disney Channel? I especially love the Disney Channel because of their quality programming for youngsters on Playhouse Disney. In addition to watching Playhouse Disney, my daughter and I often go to PlayhouseDisney.com. Playhouse Disney Online is a great way to supplement whatever your child has learned from the shows on Playhouse Disney. It is also a great site to just go to with your child and have fun. Playhouse Disney Online features many of the Playhouse Disney shows, such as Little Einsteins, Higglytown Heroes, and JoJo’s Circus. Playhouse Disney also features five-minute shorts in … Continue reading
