What Makes a Great Dog Park?

The dog park here in town recently got remodeled… and it’s great. Not that it wasn’t nice before — a large, securely fenced area with a spigot for the dogs to have fresh water while they played. But it’s even better now. Improvement #1: an “airlock” style gate. Before the remodel, the park just had a gate for people and dogs to go in and out. Dogs who were already inside could crowd around the gate, and possibly escape when the gate was open. Murphy’s Pick for Best Dog Park

This past Thanksgiving we drove to Denver like we did two years ago for Christmas. Murphy was the first one out the door and to the car when we asked, “Want to go to Grandma Dorothy’s house again?” Boy did he! Not only does his Grandma Dorothy live literally on the edge of Cherry Creek State Park (which means a park walk everyday, a couple times a day), but she lives five minutes from the best dog park Murph’s ever been to. A Trip to the Dog Park: Warm Sensations

Murph in sniff mode… Murphy’s almost six years old now, so his wild puppy days are behind him. But in his prime, the prospect of a trip to the dog park would get him wound up with wild-eyed, tail-thumping excitement before the “ark” in “park” was fully enunciated.
