Drawing on Walls

Last year my mom’s group went to the Museum of Modern Art in Fort Worth, Texas. The outing was called “StrollArt at the Modern.” It was a great time with my friends appreciating modern art. For Jessie’s second Christmas her daddy and I gave her a floor pad and crayons that promote proper hand position. I thought she’d be eager to color. She didn’t show much interest. We bought a number of Aquadoodle books and water pens for a previous foster placement. The former foster daughter loved watching the colors come up with water, dry, and then start again. I … Continue reading

Collect Names and Prospects Using a Drawing

When it comes to finding a relatively inexpensive way to collect names and grow a database of prospects and interested individuals for your home business, there are few activities that can be as successful as a drawing. If you have public opportunities to meet and attract new people, holding a drawing for a free product or service can be a fabulous way to gather names of interested people. You can then follow up with these individuals in an attempt to cultivate them into customers. Even for those of you who do direct sales or visit with prospects on an individual … Continue reading

Drawing Lessons From a Bear – David McPhail

In this delightful children’s picture book, which I gather is slightly autobiographical, David McPhail talks to us in the persona of a bear who has learned how to draw. He didn’t always know how, though – that came slowly. It really all began when Bear was having his lessons in how to be a bear. His mother was very anxious for him to learn how to do all the things a bear should do. She taught him how to walk like a bear, how to sit like a bear, how to choose which berries were safe to eat, and how … Continue reading

Marriage Exercises – Couple Toons

This is the second in a series on marriage exercises today. The first, Let’s Play a Game, introduced the idea of playing detective like Sherlock Holmes in order to effect greater understanding between you and your spouse. This exercise is called couple toons and it offers you and your partner some humorous ways to reconnect, even in the light of a harsh disagreement. How Does It Work? Imagine a recent argument you and your spouse have had. The argument may have been over money, over housework or even over who forgot to go the grocery store. As you think about … Continue reading

Coloring on the Walls

Kids love to color on the walls. When my kids were small, I spent some time, as all parents have, scrubbing crayon or marker off the walls. I couldn’t believe my little angel would do such a thing, but it happens to the best of us. So in the spirit of family fun, I offer some solutions to actually let your children color on the walls. But first, a story. When I was fourteen, my mom decided to wallpaper the huge wall adjacent to the staircase of our 1970s split-level home. She asked me if I wanted to draw on … Continue reading

Aqua Doodle Products Great for Young Children

Why I bought Aqua Doodle Products? My 2 year old loves to draw. She draws on everything. Her artwork has decorated walls, furniture, counter tops, and herself. After twice drawing on my leather couch with a pen I bought a pencil sharpener. Now we only use pencils. With two older children markers and crayons sometimes get left out and Kelsey always finds them. When I found the Aqua Doodle products I was ecstatic, it was something she could color on and it would not wear out or have to be replaced, like the Crayola Color Wonder products. What Aqua Doodle … Continue reading
