Books Can Provide An Opening

How do you choose what to read? And more importantly how do you choose what books to buy? Are you influenced by the opinions of others? In the February 11, 2008 Publishers Weekly published an article called Word-of-Mouth Top Book-Buying Decisions. It statistics which were the result of a survey among African-American readers. The Great Commission

The Great Commission is the mandate of God to Christians to spread the Gospel to every person. Jesus spoke the words of the Great Commission to his disciples just before He ascended into heaven. Matthew 28:19-20 may be the best summary of this mandate: “Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the ends of the world.” This command, I believe, also applies to … Continue reading

Unfortunately, this harvest is in grave need of workers! “But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.’” (Matthew 9:37-38) As I look around … Continue reading

This Little Light of Mine

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) I was relaxing tonight thinking about what difference one person’s light makes in this world. I see lots of flames lit in the church, but what happens out in the dark world? There are a lot of great evangelists and teachers out there that are reaching people, but what about your neighbor, or your coworkers? Who is there to bring light to them? Do you have a basket over your light as Jesus talks about in verse 15 … Continue reading
