Ringo Starr to Fans: Leave Me Alone!

Attention Ringo Starr fans: the former Beatles drummer wants you to bug off. That means stop writing to him, stop asking him for autographs, and for Heavens sake, quit requesting that he send you a signed photo. I’m not kidding. After nearly 50 years basking in the media spotlight and being worshipped by fans around the world the musician says he wants his life back. His fan-free life back. This fan fatigue is apparently what led the 68-year-old to post a very serious video message on his website laying down the law for fans. According to the front man of … Continue reading

Murphy’s Fan Club

I don’t know how he does it, but in both neighborhoods he’s lived in Murphy has acquired a fan base. Mostly the kids in the neighborhood, but he has his people admirers as well as a host of dog fans too. In Jacksonville At our old house, the first one Murph ever knew, I could understand why the neighborhood kids initially were drawn to him. He was a puppy. Not a newborn puppy, we’d gotten him when he was about five months old, but he was still puppyish enough. One of our across-the-street neighbors had three boys. At the time, … Continue reading

Staying Cool Without Breaking The Bank

Yesterday we were two degrees off of a record high temperature. It was 85 wonderfully warm degrees (not bad for May in the Upper Midwest). We took turns making sure the kids were well hydrated and kept asking them if they were ready to get ice cream. … Continue reading

Free Fanpacks from your Favorite MLB Team

Yeah, it’s “stuff”. What you get varies. They’re fan packs, stuff that the franchises send out to fans who ask. Sometimes it’s nothing more than a card or magnet, other times it’s photos and memorabilia. If you’re a real sports fan, anything from your team is worth it! Especially when all it will cost you is an email. Here’s a sample one I sent to the Mariners. Dear Mariners, We love you when you’re up, and we love you when you’re in a rebuilding phase.
