One Family, Two “Miracles”

What’s that expression: “Lightning never strikes twice in the same spot?” Well, one Wisconsin family may disagree. It seems lightning has struck twice in the same spot for the Heider family—right on their farm. The Rock County family is the talk of the state (I know because I live Wisconsin and their unusual story has been water cooler fodder for days). Twelve years ago the family received worldwide attention after they revealed that their rare white buffalo gave birth to a calf. Hands on at Adams Farm in Vermont

This past weekend my family visited the Adams Farm in Wilmington, Vermont. It’s a working farm that is friendly and has a lot of charm. We walked into the gift shop and I was in heaven. Like many Vermont country stores, they actually do have soups to nuts, coffee mugs, maple syrup, pottery and so much more. On the second floor, beautiful quilts were displayed along with handmade sweaters and chilren’s outfits. Kentucky Horse Park–A Horse Lovers Dream Vacation

Even if you missed watching the Preakness Stakes horse race (of the famed Triple Crown), you likely know by now that just a few seconds out of the gate, odds-on favorite, Barbaro, shattered three bones in his right hind leg. The scene was heart breaking and the replays of the race even caught the attention of my toddler daughter, who wanted to know, “What wrong with horsey?” It prompted me to do some research on horses and their training regime.
