DEATH OF A FASHION ICON I’ve been wearing her designs since high school so it was with great sadness that I learned legendary fashionista Liz Claiborne died yesterday. According news reports, Claiborne had been battling cancer and died at New York-Presbyterian Hospital on Tuesday. She was 78. Claiborne was born in Brussels, but immigrated to the United States as a child and grew up in New Orleans. The man known as the “architect of fashion” has died. According to news reports, Gianfranco Ferre, the Italian designer acclaimed for his sculpted shapes and his reign at Christian Dior, is dead tonight. He was 62. The announcement was made within days of his arrival at a hospital in Milan. Doctors say Ferre suffered a massive brain hemorrhage.
