Who is Jesus? Examining the Book of John

This is the second part of the series on “Who is Jesus?” The book of John really shows who Christ is so I’d like to examine some of the scriptures. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” (John 1:1-3). This is of course talking about Jesus as Jesus is the “Word”. Continuing on down to verse 10 through 13, “He was in the world, and the world was … Continue reading

Intro: Who Is Jesus?

I am going to begin a short series on who Jesus is. One of the most disheartening things I hear is when other people who are said to be Christians have a misconception of who Jesus Christ is. I didn’t live 2000 years ago so the only source for me in knowing who Jesus is, is to see what the Bible has to say; to see who Jesus Himself claimed to be. Here is a compilation of scripture references and comments that I hope will be helpful to those of you who still aren’t sure, or those who need that … Continue reading

Celebrity Babies: “Who’s My Daddy” and “I Love Being A Daddy”

The daddy battle is intensifying in the Anna Nicole Smith case. According to news reports, photographer Larry Birkhead, who claims to be the father of Anna Nicole Smith’s newborn daughter, Dannielynn Hope, just filed papers in a California court to establish paternity and obtain legal custody of the child. This of course follows on the heels of the death of Smith’s son and the claim by Smith’s attorney, Howard K. Stern that he is the baby’s father. (It’s been reported that Stern and Smith held a commitment ceremony in the Bahamas last week.) Various media outlets are now reporting that … Continue reading

A Father’s “Good” Deed Doesn’t Go Unpunished

“A Father’s ‘Good’ Deed Doesn’t Go Unpunished” or “Is This Something Your Husband Would Do?” Either one is an appropriate title for this blog and here’s why: What started as a heartfelt effort to cure his daughter’s fear of heights landed a Florida father in the hospital… and his story on the pages of newspapers across the country. News reports say that Troy Stewart of Lantana, Florida wanted so desperately to rid his 10-year-old daughter of her phobia he devised a method he thought would be a sure cure-all. According to a Flordia newspaper, Stewart and his daughter rode their … Continue reading

Happy Father’s Day!

Father…Dad…Daddy—these words evoke strong emotion in children, whether the child is two or 42. A father can make a child smile or cry with a simple look. The power of a father is infinite. When a father lifts you up, you feel like you can conquer the world. When he lets you fall, it feels as though the world falls with you. Today, on Father’s Day, I’d like to pay a special tribute to my own dad. I spoke to him on the phone this morning and had a lovely chat with him for about half an hour. Because we … Continue reading

Family Traditions and Christmas Eve

I was cruising through the forums and saw a question about favorite Family Traditions. It took me right back to my childhood and one particular holiday The Christmas Eve traditions in our family were set, and had been for as far back as my memory goes. This tradition was in remembrance of the gifts given to our Savior, Jesus, as a babe and toddler. However, there was always … Continue reading
