What is the Fitness Blog About?

You know, it’s been 18 months since the Fitness blog launched here at the Families.com. When I first began writing for it, I didn’t want it to be just another ubiquitous blog that told you how to exercise. I didn’t want to just post perfunctory entries each day that fulfilled some generic idea of what a fitness blog should be. I wanted to stamp my personality on it and I wanted to write the blog I wanted to read. I have no quixotic ideas about fitness. Exercise is a simple thing and we hear day in and day out how … Continue reading

In the meanwhile, let’s take a look at our last week in June’s Fitness Blog Week in Review: Monday, June 25 Ten Fitness Facts That You Should Know is pretty self-explanatory and useful information. The Fitness Blog Week in Review June 9 – June 15

It’s been a long week here, my daughter got over a bad bout with a fever last week and I’ve spent most of the week trying not to come down with it myself. Unfortunately, I haven’t been very successful. Let’s take a good look at the week in review before I take a day of ease on Saturday. Saturday, June 9 Hot summer days are not always conducive to outdoor exercise. When temperatures cruise upwards of 95 degrees, it may be time to investigate Indoor Workouts. Sunday, June 10 Does School-Based Fitness Fade Over the Summer? There is some speculation … Continue reading

The Fitness Blog Week in Review June 2 – June 8

Is it Saturday already? This has been a crazy week and our plans were sidetracked hard because the daughter was sick all week. She suffered from a high fever for five days and now she has a full-fledged head cold. Hopefully next week will see us back out on our bikes and swimming again. In the meanwhile, here is our week in review: Saturday, June 2 Does Becoming a Parent Means Becoming Sedentary? Studies suggest that with the shifting priorities and lack of sleep after a baby is born, parents are less likely to exercise than they were before they … Continue reading

The Fitness Blog Week in Review for May 27 – June 1

We’ve been a bit crazed around here in the fitness blog, but that’s to be expected with the summer time and outdoor activities ramping up. More of us are leaving the gym and heading outside to ride bikes, go swimming, play ball and more. So let’s take a quick run down our week in review. Where is our Fitness Blog Week in Review?

Unfortunately, the craziness this week precluded a lot of fitness articles to cover for the fitness blog. We did take a look at exercise styles, but this week just didn’t lend itself to focusing on fitness as much as I would like. What Did We Do? My daughter and I did two miles per day on our bikes. We also went out for a couple of long walks. They celebrated field day on Monday and water slide day on Wednesday. She came home from school pretty tired, but excited at the same time. We spent one afternoon planning what we’re … Continue reading
