Is the Night Shift for You?

My sister in law is a labor and delivery nurse and like many young nurses, in order to get her foot in the door she had to do the night shift for several years. To avoid the costs of daycare, my mother in law (aka superwoman) actually worked the graveyard shift–also as a nurse–and then came home and did the supermom thing all day while my father in law went to work. I’m pretty sure that if I were in the medical profession, I would probably make a mistake that would cost someone their life while working all hours of … Continue reading

Body for Life Support Groups

My blog yesterday talked about all the free media out there to help you get through the Body-for-Life Challenge. I’ve got good news for you: there is even more! There are 407 Body-for-Life groups at Yahoo Groups. You can see them all here. Granted, some of these groups are very large but chances are that there is a Body-for-Life group there that is perfect for you. There are groups for certain age groups, geographic locations, men, women, particular interests and more. One of the greatest keys to making your weight loss efforts successful is to have additional outside support. Now … Continue reading

Body for Life Free Media

Back in 2006, I did a blog on the Transformation Talk podcasts by Bill Phillips, author of Body-for-Life. They were great, free podcasts and I still have them saved on my computer. You can still download them from the archives at Hay House Radio. Just see my original blog for the link. I strongly recommend that you tap into these podcasts if you’re considering taking the challenge. Bill Phillips has a new book coming out soon called “Transformation”. His website has a forum that isn’t terribly interactive but you may just get something out of it. You can visit the … Continue reading

Happy Birthday to :-)

Can you believe that the 🙂 is 25 years old? That is right, the little colon-dash-right parenthesis smiley face has a birthday, at least according to the guy who claims to have invented it. Scott E. Fahlman, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University says that he came up with the idea of using those three keystrokes to produce a sideways smiley face, exactly 25 years ago yesterday. Fahlman says he posted the smiley in a message to an online electronic bulletin board. The board messages were discussing the limits of online humor and how to make it known that some … Continue reading

How Networking on Message Board Forums Can Enhance Your Home Business

Earlier this week, I was contacted by a friend about a business venture that she is starting. Interestingly, I have never met this person nor have I ever heard her voice, but I feel an amazing connection with her and I am anxious to assist her with her project. Late last month, someone e-mailed me and said, “Traci, there is a great blogging job available that you would love”. I applied, here I am…and she was right! I have never met that person either, yet I consider her a dear friend. For anyone involved in a home business, networking with … Continue reading

Personality Traits You Must Have to Work From Home

I originally mentioned I was going to write this blog last month in this blog but I got sidetracked and never actually covered the topic. This is in direct violation of my third principle (see below) “You Must Be Organized.” Just remember: Do as I say, not as I do. 😉 Here is that list of personality traits you must have to work from home, in no particular order: You Have to be a Go-Getter. You cannot just sit back and expect people to come running to you with jobs. You have to put a resume together. You have to … Continue reading

Let’s Talk About Pregnancy Support Groups

Aside from proper prenatal care and nutrition, the most important thing a pregnant woman needs is emotional support. The obvious sources include husband, family, and friends. But very rarely are all these people going through what the pregnant woman is going through at the same time. It can be very rewarding to branch out to sources of like-kind, and the internet offers many. Families.com is one such source of pregnancy support. Visiting the Pregnancy Forums will lead you to other women to chat with about the many issues of pregnancy. These women are going through pregnancy just as you are, … Continue reading
