Is a Franchise the Right Home Based Business for You?

If you are looking to start a home based business and you have a little money to invest, franchises can be a great way to start working for yourself. Many franchises have built good reputations, making it easier for you to attract the attention of potential customers. What’s more, with a franchise, you do not have to think through the actual creation of the business enterprise. It has already been created, and you will receive the tools and training that you need to own and operate it successfully. Each year, Entrepreneur Magazine publishes a list of the top five hundred … Continue reading

Buying an Existing Business

Not every home business is created from scratch or from an individual’s lone idea. Many people come to owning and operating a home-based business by way of purchasing an exiting business from someone else. Have you given much thought as to whether or not this might be the way to establish and grow a business that is best suited for your own needs? The benefits of buying an existing business are that you already have contacts, a business model, and, hopefully, an operation that is already generating a steady income. What do You Think About a Franchise?

I have never seriously considered owning and operating a franchise business, but I’ve done a little investigating. I also know a couple people who have gone this way to small business ownership and are incredibly happy and successful with it. Dinner My Way

Yesterday I had my first experience at one of the new do-it-yourself-dinner franchises. I chose Dinner My Way in Roseville, California, (at the corner of Douglas and Sierra College). You can read my previous blog about it here. I was intrigued by the whole idea of meals you make and take home and freeze, but also wary about portion sizes, the quality of the food, and whether it made sense financially. Luckily, all of these worries were unfounded. And the surprise was how much time I saved. But let’s start at the beginning. As is usual for these types of … Continue reading

Do-It-Yourself Dinner Franchises: Worth It?

Today I stopped by a new Dinner My Way franchise. It seems these do-it-yourself dinner shops are popping up all over. Entrepreneur magazine named these franchises, such as Dinner My Way, Dinner by Design, and Dream Dinners, one of the fastest-growing food trends. So I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, and to see if this is something I want to participate in. I’d like your comments if you’ve tried on of these places. Which one did you go to? Was the food good? Is it economical? Will you return? The helpful lady behind the reception desk … Continue reading
