Getting Fit Frugally

Now is a great time to make a commitment to fitness. While some people spend hundreds on gym memberships and thousands on equipment, you don’t have to do so. Here are my favorite ways to get fit for free or for very little cost. You can find all sort of exercise videos available at the library. Most libraries offer them free for up to three weeks with the ability to renew. Try different workouts all for nothing in the comfort of your home. Speaking of home, explore your own backyard or neighborhood. Go walking, running, hiking or hill climbing, depending … Continue reading

Dance Fitness – Wanna Dance?

So You Think You Can Dance is back on television and like last year, my daughter and I are totally hooked. This Thursday they will launch the actual contest. Whenever I watch the show, I’m reminded of just how physical is dancing (not that I needed the reminder), but with the show back on, it’s a good time to remind others as well. If you’re interested in switching up your fitness routine this summer, consider dancing as a way to invigorate your workout while also toning your body, burning extra calories and just overall feeling great. Think dancing can’t burn … Continue reading

Can You Get Fit?

As nice as it would be to be able to take a magic pill to turn you into a fit and slim person, there really isn’t. If you are being realistic about getting fit, then you’ll know it’s not just a couple of days working out here or there and giving up when it does not work out the way you want it to. Fitness Fitness is about more than a good physical … Continue reading

Are you ready with your New Year’s Resolutions? In just three short days, we bid farewell to 2006 and welcome 2007 into our lives. It seems like just yesterday we were facing the Y2K crisis as we prepared to roll the calendars over from 1999 to 2000 and now, we are just three years shy of turning it to 2010. I remember reading an article in 1999 that described the fact that we were living in an age when science fiction was no longer a fairytale, but becoming fact. No, we don’t have bases on the moon, but we are … Continue reading

Happiness is the Key to Fitness Success

Shiny, happy people – do you remember this song? I’ve been racking my brain all morning trying to remember the name of the group that sang it without actually looking it up on the net. Sometimes I think the ease with which we can Google something takes all the fun out of trying to remember something. Yes, it can be frustrating trying to capture that elusive thought that seems to dance just out of reach – but as frustrating as it is – I have fun trying to sort through the card file that is my brain chock full of … Continue reading
