Cute Handmade Mother’s Day Gifts (Inexpensive, Too!)

Handmade gifts, especially when they mark milestones in your child’s life can be lovely. You’ll find yourself years from now looking at them and remembering back to earlier times. I have a small collection of these gifts, and they always make me smile. For example, there is the wax cast of my first-born’s hand when he was only two. We were at a festival, and the vendor didn’t want to cast anyone under the age of four because children that age tend not to hold still. We insisted and said we would take it, no matter how it came out. … Continue reading

Would You Get Secondhand Gifts?

Today we were at a large local thrift store. We love this store, and most of our clothes that aren’t hand-me-downs come from there. Today I got some yarn for our Brownie group’s project, a parrot for my daughter’s Halloween costume, and shirts for my daughter. I also got Christmas gifts. This might seem tacky. That is because if you can get to things early, you can usually get the best prices in the following areas. The Movie Theater … Continue reading

The past few days I have been listening to various stories on my favorite radio station. The question has been asked, “What would be your best Mother’s Day gift?” I have been thinking about how different my answer today is compared to 10 years ago, 5 years ago or quite honestly, even a week ago. Of course, some of that has to do with a shattering event that took place in our family this past week. But it also has to do with the stage of life I am in. When I think back 10 years ago my children were … Continue reading
