Looking at the Stars

A few blogs ago I started an extension of my evidence series dealing with ways you can show your kids evidence for the existence of God. I think that looking at nature and the universe is a great way to show the existence of God to your children. First of all, most children are completely intrigued by things in nature and the universe. Secondly, the world we live in is God’s beautiful creation. From the intricate details of a flower petal to the grand mountain ranges to beautiful sunsets, God can be seen all around us. In the previous blog … Continue reading

The ABC’s of Bible Verses

I have always been a strong Christian, and up until more recently, I hadn’t really included any of that in my scrapbooks. Why? I’m not exactly sure. Christianity is a huge part of who I am. My church is definitely a home to me and lately we’ve been so active up at church with events, I have spent far more time concentrating on layouts about who I am as a Christian. I feel it is important to include more than just the events, but also to detail your journey as a Christian, details about your church, minister or priest, etc. … Continue reading

Believing in God: Foolish or Wise?

If you have read many of my blogs, you know that I believe that many different things in the world, not just the Bible, point to a Living, Powerful, Mighty God. Many, many people in the world today think differently. There are people around us who label those who believe in an Almighty Creator as “uneducated,” “superstitious,” “inexperienced,” or “unintelligent.” In fact, I have even heard these people label those who believe in God “fools.” However, the Bible says that the fool does not believe there is a God. In Psalm 14:1 the Bible states: “The fool says in his … Continue reading

Seeing God As Our Father

For those who didn’t have a dad growing up, or didn’t have a healthy one, it can be difficult to imagine God’s perfect love for us as our father. A good father provides, comforts, protects, disciplines, and loves us beyond what we can imagine. There are so many examples in the Bible about God’s goodness to us as a father. I would like to share with you a few of these scriptures. Father to the fatherless: How wonderful that He can fill that father role in the lives of those who don’t have a one! Psalm 68:5, “A father of … Continue reading

My Way or God’s Way?

Too often, it seems like the general attitude towards life is the “it is my way or the highway” approach. In this approach, authority is resisted and the only thing that matters is an individual’s own opinion. An individual with this attitude will determine what things are right and wrong for himself, regardless of outside sources. However, I think that this is a very dangerous pattern of life to develop. Christians in the world today must fight an attitude in which they rely only on themselves to determine what is right and wrong. Christianity is not about doing things our … Continue reading

Have We Lost Our Fear Of God?

What a loving, merciful, gracious God we serve! He is so patient with us. He is the giver of all that is good. Jesus was even sent from heaven and born among men to walk with us fulfilling prophecy, dying for our sins and rising again! We certainly have a lot to be praising Him about. I enjoy going to church and celebrating God’s goodness with other believers. Somewhere in all the celebrating and political correctness of many churches, there seems to be a lack of correction and striving for holiness. Sadly, I see it in my great church too. … Continue reading

Starving Spiritually

Feeling weak, tired, overwhelmed, stressed? Are you feeling like something is missing and you can’t quite pinpoint it? Have you considered that you may be running on empty spiritually speaking? Sometimes we can forget that our faith is living and breathing and needs to be nourished just as our bodies need to be. It’s too easy to get wrapped up in life making decisions, stressing out about this or that and really playing god over our own life. We were not built to take on the worries of the world but rather to cast our worries or cares upon Christ … Continue reading

Five Things for Which to be Thankful

When I was teaching the children’s Bible class last week, I asked one of the boys to lead a prayer. He was not quite sure what for what to pray, and I encouraged him to pray for the things for which he was thankful to God. Looking around the room, he prayed for things he was reminded from things he could see on the wall. I know that I sometimes struggle with remembering to thank God for all the many blessing of this life. Here are just a few things which I think Christians ought to be thankful for. The … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Your Faith

Scrapbooking about your faith can be a rewarding process. Not only can you showcase the finer qualities about your faith, your place of worship and your congregation, it can also be a learning process. While scrapbooking about your faith, it’s a great time for your own personal journey. You should be on the quest for fulfillment, and knowledge. But how does someone go about scrapbooking their faith? Well, I’ve seen it done several different ways, and since I just recently began a mini-album, I will give you some advice. They way this all started was, I was approached by a … Continue reading

Overcoming Loneliness

Oftentimes, after going through a relationship breakup people experience loneliness. Parents, especially of younger children, may ask how they could possibly feel lonely when their children are with them constantly and they are working long hours around a multitude of other people. Loneliness occurs with loss of all types, death, divorce and even a lost friendship. People who have been in a long term relationship may miss the intimacy, the good parts of the relationship and sometimes even the bad parts of the relationship because at some level they were at least interaction with another adult.
