Have You Seen This Woman?

Maybe you’ve had the pleasure of meeting this woman. First of all, she is beautiful. Her hair is always fixed, her makeup is always perfect and her clothes are always pressed. Her home is meticulous. Every closet is organized and there is not a single dust bunny to be found, not even under the couch. She cooks a delicious dinner every night, including a decadent dessert. (And yet her figure is amazing!) She drives the car pool, she’s president of the PTA, she volunteers at the library, she’s a Sunday school teacher and a Girl Scout leader. She’s always calm, … Continue reading

Hold to the Course

Wow, although it was only four days, I feel like I took a couple of weeks away from blogging. I missed it! I really did. Sometimes life can become so hectic that stepping back and taking stock of our lives is necessary for survival. I did this and realized that my husband and I need a slight alteration in course. We discussed it. We prayed about it and made some decisions that will make us a little busier in the short run but certainly more stable in almost every aspect of our lives if we hold to the course. Has … Continue reading

Gifts of the Spirit

Gifts of the Spirit should be coveted earnestly, as we are admonished by Paul in 1 Corinithians 12:31. Every member of the church is given at least one gift of the Spirit and it is up to us to seek after the rest. Gifts of the spirit are all tied around revelation of one sort or another. “It was asked of me by a gentleman how I guided the people by revelation. I teach them to live so that the Spirit of revelation may make plain to them their duty day by day that they are able to guide themselves. … Continue reading

Perfect Design

As I was eating some cookies that I baked yesterday a thought occurred to me. It is incredibly easy to completely mess up a batch of cookies by missing an ingredient, using the wrong amount of an ingredient, using an old ingredient, or even setting the oven to the wrong temperature. In fact I’ve ruined cookies more times than I would want to admit. So what does this have to do with anything? This thought and experience made me greatly appreciate the most excellent, perfect design in everything in the world which God created. When I think about all that … Continue reading

We Lived Before

“Adam, our great progenitor, “the first man,” was, like Christ, a pre-existent spirit, and like Christ he took upon him an appropriate body, the body of a man, and so became a “living soul.” The doctrine of the pre-existence,—revealed so plainly, particularly in latter days, pours a wonderful flood of light upon the otherwise mysterious problem of man’s origin. It shows that man, as a spirit, was begotten and born of heavenly parents, and reared to maturity in the eternal mansions of the Father, prior to coming upon the earth in a temporal body to undergo an experience in mortality. … Continue reading

Nephi or Laman & Lemuel

Are you Nephi or are you Laman and Lemuel? My brain is a little weird, so that explains this blog. In 1 Nephi 1:2-3 it says, “And it came to pass that the Lord commanded my father, even in a dream, that he should take his family and depart into the wilderness. And it came to pass that he was obedient unto the word of the Lord, wherefore he did as the Lord commanded him.” So, here’s what I’m wondering as I’m sitting on the tarmac in Grand Junction, Colorado waiting for my plane to return to its original destination, … Continue reading

The Divinity of Jesus Christ

With the advent of many books into the market, such as The DaVinci Code (which I enjoyed), The Last Templar (which I mostly enjoyed) and on and on and on, the divinity of Christ has been called into question so much that some Christian sects are backing off, they are now saying that Jesus Christ is not God. I am deeply saddened by this. Our Lord and Savior condescended to come to this earth as a mortal babe. He grew into adulthood with parents that loved and accepted Him and brothers who struggled with that same knowledge. At thirty years … Continue reading

A Government Without God

More and more people in our country are trying to erase God from any political connection. That includes the pledge, schools, holidays, and even our money. Recently a battle has been fought in my home state over whether or not a 10 Commandments statue should be allowed to remain in a public park. Soon our children will be living in a nation that do not discuss God or acknowledge His involvement in the birth and continued success of our nation. An interesting but little known fact is that atop the Washington Monument in Washington D.C. are the words Laus Deo. … Continue reading

Personal Prayer and How it Soothes the Soul

My word, my life has been in utter chaos since November. First we got hit with that ugly, nasty, completely insane California flu (hated that thing!). My husband and I rolled over in bed morning after morning, just blearily smiling at each other before bursting into a fit of coughing. Christmas came and went as one illness after another hit our family and finally on February 1st, my sweetheart was admitted to the hospital. Never could we have imagined the emotional and psychological roller coaster we had just fastened our seatbelts on. I have described this five week hospital stay … Continue reading
