Special Anniversaries

It’s actually kind of strange the way special anniversaries are designated. For example, there is a 52nd and 67th but the other numbers that don’t end in zero or five are not always represented. I don’t know what makes particular numbers special. Of course, most people celebrate the five and ten year marks, and certain ones have been given greater significance such as silver and golden anniversaries (the 25th and 50th respectively). His picture hung on my brother’s bedroom wall for years. But, now, in addition to being associated with Jamaica’s national colors–green, yellow and black—Bob Marley is being immortalized in gold and silver. The Bank of Jamaica is releasing commemorative coins with the late reggae superstar’s deadlocked likeness. According to a bank spokesperson 1,000 coins, produced by the British Royal Mint, are being sold for $100 each. However, officials say since the coins have been met with such overwhelmingly popularity, they don’t anticipate they will be on the market for very long. Fall Fashion

We were in Toy R Us the other day and my 2-year-old ran into their Halloween costume display. That’s right. Directly across from the back-to-school gear stood dozens of Halloween costumes. Of course, my daughter decided this was a golden opportunity to play dress up and tried on at least seven furry animal costumes (never mind that it was pushing 90 degrees outside).
