Fun for Grown-Ups at Disney: The Spas

When I last talked about fun things for adults to do alone at Disney, I highlighted a fast-paced thrill ride. Today I’m going to talk about a service Disney features that is perfect for winding down after racing around the tracks at the Richard Petty Experience: spas. Several of the hotels at Disney Parks have spas, but Disney World in particular boasts a few larger ones worthy of note: the Grand Floridian, Saratoga Springs, and Mandara. These three offer an extra level of pampering ideal for a vacation all about taking time to relax. The Balinese-themed Mandara spa can actually … Continue reading

Walt Disney World Spas: Grand Floridian

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa takes pampering to amazing new levels. Not only are there white sand beaches and concierge service to be sure you’re treated right at the Grand Floridian but there is a great full-service spa and health club right there on the premises. You can enjoy treatments for the face and body that are guaranteed to refresh and revitalize you down to your core. You can have your choice of massage therapies, facials, aromatherapies, signature services and even enjoy a good workout. When planning your vacation at the Grand Floridian, consider some of these great spa … Continue reading

What’s All The Fuss at Victoria and Albert’s?

Victoria and Albert’s restaurant at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is the finest dining experience there is at Walt Disney World. It is a small, intimate and elegant restaurant that has been recognized by the nation’s top food critics and has received a AAA five-diamond rating. This is not an every-day dining experience. It is a very special occasion (and extremely romantic) Victorian retreat. A harpist provides background music during your seven course meal, the restaurant itself is lavishly decorated, the menus are personalized, every lady receives a long-stemmed rose and every table is served by not one but … Continue reading

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

This is by far my favorite of all the Disney resorts. The Grand Floridian was inspired by the turn-of-the-century Victorian resorts of the Florida coast. It is complete with verandas, latticework, dormers, and turrets and will easily transport you back to a time when everything about vacationing was elegant. The five-story main building houses the Grand Lobby which is decorated in perfect Victorian furnishings. There is an open-cage elevator and the ceiling is decorated with stained-glass domes and glittering chandeliers. Outside is the Seven Seas Lagoon and a white sandy beach. If the lobby doesn’t transport you, the 900 guest … Continue reading

Should You Stay Inside or Outside Disney World?

When you book your vacation to Disney World, one of the first things you have to think about beyond transportation is ‘where do I stay?’ I’ve been to Disney World a half dozen times and I’ve stayed both ‘inside’ the world and outside of it as well. Hands down, if you were to ask my preference, I would admit to being far fonder of the World hotels whether it’s The Boardwalk, the Grand Floridian or the Animal Kingdom Lodge. But staying inside the ‘World’ is an expensive proposition. Hotel rates run from around $75 to $2,000 dollars a night. (Yes, … Continue reading

Restaurants at the Grand Floridian

I promised you some information on the restaurants available at the Grand Floridian and while I’m late, better late than never. Here is a look at the restaurants available at the Grand Floridian. Even if you do not stay at the hotel, the restaurants themselves are worth checking out during your next Disney World visit and stay at a Disney World resort. Victoria & Albert’s is considered the dining centerpiece of the Grand Floridian. It’s also a very fancy, elegant restaurant and if you’re looking for a place to dress up in your fine clothes for a beautiful evening with … Continue reading

The Grand Floridian – Why Should You Stay There?

The Grand Floridian is an experience I think that every Disney World visitor should have. My husband I stayed there during our honeymoon and I look forward to our next opportunity. But for now, let me tell you about the Grand Floridian. It’s a beautiful hotel and extremely clean. It’s right off the Monorail so you’re a one-hop stop away from the Magic Kingdom. You can also take the boat over if you want and both are great ways to arrive at the Magic Kingdom. The main building of the Grand Floridian is all about great service and beautiful entertainment. … Continue reading
