Low Maintenance Bathroom

Cleaning bathrooms is never fun. I try to do it as seldom as possible, number one because I’m lazy, number two, it’s a bathroom, and it’s gross! I had to develop some habits that will help maintain my bathroom and stretch out the time between cleanings as long as possible. Here are some of my favorite ideas. 1. Use the bathroom fan, this will get rid of moisture which will cut down on mold and mildew. Moist places like bathrooms are breeding grounds for mold and mildew. If you have a window in your bathroom, open it, let in some … Continue reading

Housework seems to take forever, but if you can do some 60 second chores when you have time, things will go much smoother. Housecleaning For Cancer Patients

Today I’m not writing a typical housekeeping blog, there will be no tips or hints or product reviews, instead, imagine trying to keep your home clean when you are seriously ill. Many women are very ill but still have to find a way to maintain their home or, if they are unable to, they continue to worry about it when they should be focused on getting better. Today I want to talk about a very special company that provides a service to cancer patients. It’s called Cleaning For A Reason and they clean the homes of cancer patients, for free. … Continue reading

When Your Refrigerator Has Become a Science Project

I don’t know if you can relate but the one area of my kitchen that is always sorely in need of cleaning is the refrigerator. I always tell myself that I am going to do a thorough cleaning out each week, which would make staying on top of it easier. Yet one week turns into two, turns into three and by the end of the month it is as if I have a science project going. I will never forget the one time I cleaned out my refrigerator and discovered I had eight, yes; count them, eight tubs of sour … Continue reading

Quick and Easy Cleanup at the End of the Day

Home schooling kids is rewarding, but it can also be messy. Having children around the house all day long rather than away at school for six or more hours means that we need to clean up several times a day rather than just once. Parents are notorious for trying to be superheroes and tend to do everything themselves. Whether it’s vacuuming, doing dishes, laundry, or cleaning the cat box, it’s often easier to just do it ourselves rather than listening to the kids moan and groan. Not to mention, we often have to prod them a thousand times before they’ll … Continue reading

Guess what I found at the library? Those ladies from the How Clean Is Your House TV show have a book! Then “the girls” explain what is in their own essential cleaning kits. And like in the show, they use environmentally and people friendly products like … Continue reading

How Clean is Your House – TV

As I was flipping through the channels last month, I saw something that caught my attention. A woman with a British accent was explaining all the bacteria she’d found in a family’s home. The father looked a little frightened. The mother looked as if she were going to be sick. I stopped flipping, and sat down to watch. And after the show was over, I got up and cleaned house in fear of what nasty bacteria were lurking in our sinks. This half hour show is called “How Clean is Your House” and can be seen on BBC and Lifetime. … Continue reading

Cleaning up our act

Not too many of us made it through childhood and adolescence without being told on numerous occasions to clean up our room. Most of us hated it! But, in hindsight, when our mothers hounded us to “clean up our act” they were unknowingly giving us a gift. A gift that we can use to our advantage for the rest of our lives. So how can cleaning up our room in adolescence have an effect on our later lives?
