Resources for Christian Blogging

When beginning to blog for Families.com, I imagined I would share some things I’ve learned during my walk with the Lord. I figured there would be times were I’d need to be inspired and what better resource than the internet, right? While this is so true; the internet has so much available information, I find myself just as often digging in books. In looking at my cluttered workspace now, I find 3 open books that are awaiting my examination: 1. My Bible is perhaps the number one tool I use. Even when I use the internet to look up certain … Continue reading

Seeking Inspiration for Christian Blogging

While driving home last night I asked the Lord to lay on my heart some topics to write about. As I settled in my home for the night I started getting a flood of ideas. The initial passion I had to share about the Lord came back to me. I get inspiration by: • Going to church • Looking at God’s creations • Past experiences • Books • Topics of debate • Specific scriptures • Current events • Needs of other people • Things I’d like to know more about • Studying the Word • Devotional time • My children … Continue reading

Finding New Ways to Incorporate Journaling

Fun Ways to Incorporate Journaling We all know that journaling is one of the most important parts of creating a layout, but sometimes it can be challenging to journal. I have discovered and used a few products lately that actually make me want to think of more journaling just so that I can incorporate these new fun accents onto my pages. I’d like to share a few of my most recent fun journaling products. Heidi Swapp Journaling Spots. Ever since I opened the package, I haven’t been able to stop putting these on my layouts. They work just like a … Continue reading

All About Me: Where Did You Come From?

Where did you come from? Yes, I do know where babies come from. That is not what I mean. What I mean is, where are you from? Where were you born? Where did you grow up? These are awesome questions to be answered in your all about me scrapbook. Take time to think about your answers. Ask yourself questions about your childhood. Did you move around a lot when you were a child? Was it because you had a family member in the Military, or perhaps you just had parents that liked to move around a lot. Did you grow … Continue reading

Journaling Written By Hand

One of the most prized and protected possessions I have is the original handwritten letter from my biological mother after I had been contacted by her. I cherish it, and love looking at her beautiful handwriting. Another favorite item, cherished, is a card from when I was a little girl from my great grandmother. She wrote the sweetest card to a 6 year old little girl in her shaky handwriting, but it makes me smile each time I read it. The sight of a special someone’s familiar handwriting can warm the heart. But most of us really don’t like our … Continue reading

All About Me: Where Were You When….?

Following in the footsteps of an article I wrote earlier last week, titled Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning, I thought a different sort of page was interesting for your all about me album. It’s important to include world events in an album, simply for prosperity down the road. It’s a fascinating thing when you can read journaling from someone who has been through what you read about in your history books. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to show your grandchildren and future generations what you remember about events that have changed history? It’s time to … Continue reading

All About Me: The Car You Drive

Do you remember your first car? What color it was, the make and model? Was it a brand new car that you saved up to buy? Or was it an older model, possibly even a hand me down? Did you even get a car or did you drive around mom and dad’s grocery getter? What about now? Are you driving your dream car, or is it still just a dream? Go out to your garage or your driveway and take some photos of the cars that you drive. Then, create a layout using those photographs. Journal about the vehicle. Is … Continue reading

All About Me: Fall Family Traditions

With fall poking it’s head just around the corner, I thought it was a good time to discuss our fall traditions. This makes for a perfect layout in your all about me album, and could almost be updated in your yearly album each year as you add family traditions. Think long and hard about what fall means to you. What do you think of when you hear the word ‘Autumn’. Personally, I think of leaves changing colors, brisk air with the smell of nature, crunching leaves beneath my feet, the smell of pumpkin pies, reaching up to pull that plump, … Continue reading

All About Me: Friendships

Friendship is a vital part of who we are. Everyone needs friends, but everyones needs from a friendship are different, just as each friendship itself is different. Some people are content having only one or two very close friends, and others need larger groups of friends. If you have two friends or you have a hundred, commemorating those friendships in your scrapbook album are extremely important. Not to mention that much like “Chicken Soup for the Soul” it does your heart good to remember what makes each friendship you have special. Several months back I created a themed album on … Continue reading
