The Joy of the Lord

When I was little, we sang a song in Sunday School that simply repeated the phrase, “The joy of the Lord is my strength,” over and over. I have come back to those words many times in my life, and they give me comfort. Sometimes joy is difficult to maintain. Biblical joy is somewhat different from the meaning of the word used in today’s society. Joy has almost become synonymous with being truly happy. However, in the Bible the words joy and happiness are not always the same thing. One of the hardest parts of disagreeing with your spouse is that it’s not always easy to forgive transgressions whether they are real or imagined.
