Adapting My Clothing

Since I have been losing weight, I have had to contend with clothing not fitting me quite right. Believe me, I am not complaining. I’d rather have loose clothing than tight clothing. But because of my limited wardrobe (yes, I am the mom who still has clothing she purchased 10 years ago), I’ve been having to adapt. Why don’t I just get new clothing? Well, for one thing, I am very frugal (notice the clothing from 10 years ago). We just don’t have a new wardrobe in the budget at the moment, especially with the holidays here. The other reason, … Continue reading

Six Ways to Save Money on Makeup

Looking good really doesn’t have to cost a fortune… though you might not know it from walking the beauty counters at a department store, or a specialty makeup store. Talk about sticker shock! (Some of those places need to keep smelling salts by the door to revive folks after they faint from looking at prices!) It’d be easy to say: skip the makeup entirely and save a ton of cash. But sometimes, a touch of makeup is the icing on the cake! The cake is pretty good already, but frosting goes the extra mile into stunning. If wearing makeup makes … Continue reading

A New Wardrobe for Free

If you took only an hour today, I bet you could find a whole new wardrobe right in your own home! Here are some tips on how to get a new set of outfits all for free. When I read Andrea’s blog about how the 80s are back, I got inspired. Not by the 80s clothes in particular, I’ve had enough neon pink belts and acid washed jeans to last me a lifetime, but by the thought that there is usually an entire new wardrobe waiting in everyone’s closets and drawers, if only they would take the time to discover … Continue reading

My $1.50 Outfit

I’ve been taking long power walks in the morning a lot. In fact, I’ll be blogging about my exercise adventures soon in the Weight Loss blog. But, that is coming later. The point is that when I arrived back at the house, I has just a few minutes to shower and throw on some clothing before we all headed to church. Fortunately, for me, I have plenty of neutral pieces (meaning I don’t have to think too hard about assembling an outfit) that can be thrown together quickly. After church, however, I wanted to change into something a little more … Continue reading

Practical Clothes Shopping

About a week ago I had to opportunity to go out shopping with a good friend. Her mission was to get me out of my standard uniform of jeans, tops and sneakers and into something with more style. How to Care for Emeralds

My engagement ring consists of a diamond in the middle with two green emeralds on either side. The setting originally called for three diamonds, the larger one in the middle with two smaller one to the left and the right. My husband took me to the jeweler he had chosen just to make sure that I would like the ring. The engagement was no surprise, and in fact he had already presented me with a mock up of the ring that he crafted himself. Getting my nails done before the wedding, the nail technician offered to clean my ring until … Continue reading
